January 2001 – present PDVSA-Intevep (R&D Center for PDVSA) Caracas, Venezuela
Manager of the "fuels for hydrogen production" project
• Responsible for the technical strategy and deliverables of a million-dollar per year R&D project aimed at developing non-conventional pathways, process schemes and catalyst formulations to process refinery streams for hydrogen production for fuel cells and other applications. Preliminary patent application filed for innovative catalyst formulation and application.
• Coordinate a team of people with multiple expertise contributing to the different tasks of the project and work collaboratively with team members.
• Define and contribute to the accomplishments of multiple inter-institutional projects with academic and technological partners in Venezuela and North America, each one with specific contributions to the overall project goals.
• Develop computer models for optimization and analysis of the processes under development, including autothermal reforming of hydrocarbons to produce hydrogen.
• Define the experimental matrix for bench and pilot plant tests for processing refinery fuels.
• Report to the upper management and Board of Directors about project status and accomplishments.

Project Manager at the Process Development Department
• Development and validation of chemical reactor and process models that involve complex reaction kinetics, for oil refinery processes such as hydrotreating, hydrocracking, reactive and physical distillation, olefins alkylation and autothermal reforming.
• Design and scale-up, from bench to commercial scale, proprietary processes by the development of rigorous mathematical models for gas-solid non-catalytic reactors, gas-liquid-solid catalytic reactors, gas-phase and liquid-phase physical adsorption and processes that involve coupling of reaction - separation.
• Define the experimental matrix for model validation.
• Supervision of laboratory technicians and collaborative interaction with project members.
