Professional Achievements:
ONGC (1980-1995)
Estimated reserves of various Oil & Gas fields of Cambay, Bombay Offshore & Assam Basins at KDMIPE, ONGC, Dehradun and submitted report to the Ministry at New Delhi.
Detected formation pressure and fracture gradient of Cachar wells (Chargola # 6 and Badarpur # 2) based on Shale resistivity, D-exponent and Sigma log plots online through Geo-Mud logging unit and prevented the wells from Blowouts by timely increasing the desired mud sp. gr. from 1.5 to 1.7.
Prepared Geological Section of Badarpur Structure incorporating the well data of Badarpur #1 and #2, which is valid till date and cut stratigraphic cores right at the thrust (1735m depth) in later well, which otherwise was expected at 2100m depth, based on well geological and drilling data observation & analysis.
Discovered new prospect of Nandej between Wasna and Ahmedabad oil fields, based on integrated geological modelling and analysis, delineated and developed, producing about 400 tons per day of oil at present.
Delineated Oil & Gas pools like Wadu, Paliyad, Motera, S. Viraj, Limbodra etc by proposing the new locations from time to time, resulting in discovery of new Kalol equivalent pay zones - V, VI & VII, VIII and Chhatral (XII) contributing major reserves accretion and production enhancement.
Prepared development strategy for production of various Oil and Gas fields of Cambay Basin such as Nawagam, Dholka, Wasna, Ahmedabad, Kalol, South Kadi, Viraj, Jhalora, Sanand, Motera, Indrora, Wavel, Bakrol, Limbodra, Nandej, Wadu-Paliyad etc.
Accreted about 185 MMt of Oil & Gas reserves in Ahmedabad Project from 1987-88 to 1994-95. Generated about 75 exploratory and 125 development locations, thereby increasing oil production from 2200 to 4350 tpd. Wrested declining oil production by enhancing 500 tpd within 3 months through workover of idle/poor flowing wells such as zone transfer, water shut off, additional perforation, artificial lift installation, stimulation/hydro fracturing, detailed testing etc.
Reserves accretion and production targets were overachieved through drilling the proposed exploratory and development wells, finding new oil in old fields, including bypassed oil through log analysis and multiple zone testing. Thrust laid on cluster deviated well drilling, side tracking, drain holes and horizontal wells.
Awarded merit certificate for mega research project work on Standardisation of Stratigraphy of Cambay Basin and Evaluation of its Petroleum potential.
Interacted with Geodata Processing and Interpretation Centre (GEOPIC) Workstation at Dehradun for 3D seismic interpretation of S.Kadi, Jotana, Linch, Nandasan, Limbodra and Wadu-Paliyad etc, while integrating with well data.
Exposed to working of PC and Workstation based G&G and Reservoir interpretation softwares like GEOQUEST of Schlumberger and LANDMARK of Halliburton.
Reliance (1995-2003)
Associated with prospect evaluation and exploratory drilling, which resulted in giant gas discovery in one of the deep water blocks along east coast of India in KG Basin.
Involved in delineation & development activities of offshore Panna-Mukta-Tapti fields comprising clastic and carbonate reservoirs, held with consortium of Reliance-Enron (now British Gas)-ONGC and currently producing about 30,000 bpd oil and 7.5 MMcmd gas.
Evaluated various overseas Oil & Gas opportunities, including LNG of Middle East, FSU and SE Asian countries, some of which like that of Iraq (oil) and Iran (gas) got materialised.
Associated with evaluation of various Indian oil & gas blocks prospects such as offshore Kutch (GK-OSJ-3), Saurashtra (SR-OS-94/1), Bombay south (BB-OS/8) and onland Bhagewala (RJ-ONJ-94/1), which were later awarded for exploration and production.
Assessed hydrocarbon prospectivity of New Exploration Licensing Policy (NELP) exploration blocks as a member of Taskforce, resulting in award of a number of blocks in deep water, shallow offshore and onland areas with minor equity of Niko and Hardy, respectively.
Studied potential of unconventional gas resources like coalbed methane, tight gas sands, gas shales, underground coal gasification etc, besides conventional oil & gas for their utility in modern combined cycle multifuel based power plants.
Estimated all India Coal reserves of Gondwana and Tertiary Basins at 467 billion tonnes, while segregating into mineable (160 bt) and unmineable (307 bt) categories, suggesting three pronged exploitation strategy viz, Mining with Clean Coal Technology CCT), Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) and Coal Bed Methane (CBM) extraction, depending upon their depth of occurrence and geological conditions.
Assessed all India CBM potential at about 110 MMcmd, which is about 1.5 times the present natural gas production and is equivalent to LNG supply of about 26 MMtpa and power generation of about 19,000MW over a period of 20 years. The study is compiled in the form of a compendium with basin-wise and block-wise CBM inplace, recoverable reserves and gas production potential.
Identified new CBM prospects through regional geological correlation viz. Tharad in Gujarat, Barmer in Rajasthan, Mannargudi in Tamilnadu, Birbhum in West Bengal and Sonhat in M.P. and appraised to DGH for offering blocks for bidding.
Evaluated CBM blocks for bidding, of which two have been awarded to Reliance viz. Sohagpur (East) and Sohagpur (West) with exploratory acreage of about 1000sq.km.
Essar (2003-Contd):
Efficiently managed drilling of an exploratory well (Binjbayla-1) in Paleozoic Bikaner-Nagaur Evaporite basin without any problem of mud loss, hole enlargement, salt dissolution, stuck up, fishing or cementation failure, which normally happen while drilling in such salt formations.
Discovered oil & gas in two exploratory wells in CB-ON/3 Block, Cambay basin, where 13 wells were drilled and abandoned earlier, which could be possible by new ideas/ new concepts and adopting different from traditionally known approach of carrying out abandoned well analysis and mapping fault closures and stratigraphic traps defining entrapment conditions.

HOW I CAN CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR ORGANISATION:
Being young, dynamic, self motivated and result-oriented Petroleum Geologist, experienced in the entire gamut of E&P activities from exploratory discovery of a new prospect to delineation, reservoir development and field production, including wellsite geological and workover operations in both clastic and carbonate reservoirs of onland and offshore Indian and Inernational basins.
Reserves accretion and production enhancement are my special strengths achieved by proposing new locations (exploratory, development, infill) for drilling and old wells for testing based on geological (structural, stratigraphic, sedimentogical) and reservoir data integration, mapping & interpretation alongwith log analysis, petrophysical and seismic interpretation.
Global regions like Middle East, Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, Africa, America, Europe, Australasia, SE Asia and FSU, including Caspian Sea offer immense challenges to an E&P Geologist, where wells prove prolific oil & gas producer and geologists get thrilled on getting success. Self, being an aggressive E&P cum Operations geologist gets satisfaction while working for such areas.
