Co-ordinated and supervised installation, power-up, and acceptance testing of the Process Control and Data Acquisition (PCDA) system.
The PCDA system interfaced with approximately 3500 I/O. It encompassed an ESD unit, 20 multi-function processor nodes on a data highway, 40 marshalling cabinets, and seven field mounted multiplexer cabinets. Several RS-232 serial links allowed data transfer between the PCDA and other systems. In addition, a Cornerstone network allowed on-line supervision of smart instrumentation, via the HART protocol. The PCDA system vendor was Bailey Norge.
As a Field Instrumentation Engineer, responsibilities also included monitoring construction progress, planning and co-ordinating vendor site installation visits, resolving technical queries, issuing details of design changes, placing field material orders, and maintaining site “As-Built” documents. The E&I installation contractor was Aker Elektro.
Performed calculations to determine the safe limits for all intrinsically safe circuits. This later provided a basis for site verification and for obtention of Norwegian electrical authority approval for start-up.
During loop test, was lead instrument engineer for resolving loop defects.
Provided engineering and technical support for plant operations group through start-up.

Performed orifice plate sizing calculations and subsequently developed a Lotus based sizing spreadsheet/datasheet in compliance with ISO 5167.
Participated in PCDA system FAT.
