Responsible for review and approval of all technical submittals and ensure technical compliance during the detailed design, procurement and construction phases. Ensure that appropriate International Maritime Design and Company Engineering Standards and Codes of Practice are complied with during the project execution stage.

Projects include Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning (EPIC) Contracts as follows:

LNG Berth 3 - US$20million Civil Marine Works, US$100million complete with Loading Lines and Topside Process Equipment, designed for New Generation LNG QMAX Vessels, responsible for all client design approvals. Reviewed Berth Geometry Studies, Dynamic Mooring Analysis, Design Basis and structural design. Attended design review meetings in Milan, Italy.

LNG Berth 5 - Attended Vessel Manoeuvring Simulations, at the premises of M/s Force Technologies (formerly known as Danish Maritime Institute DMI), in Denmark. Reviewed Passing Vessel Study, which found the planned Berth Location to be unsuitable, for present speeds at which vessels need to enter the Port. This has lead to an alternative site selection.

Liquid Product Berths 1A/B & 3A/B - US$60million, Client focal point responsible for all client design approvals and construction issues. Reviewed all design and material submittals, together with participation and review of the FEED, Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), Berth Utilization/ Occupancy Simulation Study, Geometry Studies and Mooring Analysis, as conducted for the Berth, for multi-products and a large spread of vessels size, ranging from 20 000DWT to 300 000 DWT.

Common Facilities and Utilities for Liquid Product Berths 1A/B – Includes Berth Control Room, Fire Pumphouse, Switchgear Building, Loading Arm Trestle Structure, Metering Platform, Piperacks extending from the Jetty Root to Loading Platform, Gangway Structure, Velocity Approach System together with display boards, Emergency Quick Release System etc. Client Project Lead Engineer, responsible for coordinating Discipline Engineer comments, client design approvals and construction issues.

Common Pipe Racks - US$17million, for End-user Loading Lines, from Tank Farm to Multi-Product Liquid Berths – 5km long. Client Project Lead Engineer, responsible for coordinating Discipline Engineer comments, design approvals and construction issues. Developed a very flexible design which allows for all possible combinations of cross-overs and tie-ins to and between 10 Multi-Product Berths, with up to 11 Lading Arms per Berth.
Common Cooling Water System - US$300million, Pump House, Outfall Structures (Phase 1 – design flow - 300,000 m3/hr) and Intake Structure Breakwaters – 3.5km total length of breakwater, 2.0million m3 Dredging to Intake channel and Stilling Basin Area (design flow - 1.5 million m3/hr). The project involved over 100km of large diameter carbon steel pipelines (2.4 to 3m O.D.) together with associated Road Crossings and Utility Crossings. Responsible for design reviews, approvals and construction issues, on all marine aspects of the project, as well as Road and Utility Crossings. Attended Intake Structure Physical Model Study, in Milan, Italy. Involved from Front End Engineering Design (FEED) stage through to completion.

MASTER PLAN UPDATE STUDY – Member of the project team. The study involved updating the Master Plan, based on increased gas utilization projections. The study included the Design of the Expanded Port Layout, to cater the increased product exports. To this end, the design included review of Wave Agitation and Current Mathematical Model Studies, as carried out by the Danish Hydraulic Institute (DHI), Full Bridge Vessel Manoeuvring Simulations, as carried out by Force Technologies (Denmark). To ensure competitive dredging rates it was recommended to RLC Management to perform a Seismic Refraction Survey of the extended Port Area. The resulting track plots and rock head contours show exact areas where hard rock is to be found, and so to be avoided, which has resulted in the rearranging of the basin areas as far as feasible, to reduce expensive hard rock dredging. Conversely softer areas have been identified, which can be exploited for dredging for reclamation fill material.

RAS LAFFAN PORT EXPANSION PROJECT – Involves an EPC Contract for the Dredging, Reclamation and Breakwater Construction. The project will involve construction of over 19km of Breakwater, in water depths ranging from +2.0m to -13.0m CD, together with some 18 million m3 of dredging and 40 million m3 of fill for land reclamation. Obtained necessary project and budget approvals, by raising the necessary Project Initiation Numbers (PIN) and justifications.
