Dear Sir/Madam,

May I take this opportunity to introduce myself as Shafiq-Ur-Rehman Rathore, I have graduated from Aarhus University in Denmark and hold MSc degree in Geology. In addition to this I have completed and got my MSc degree in Geophysics from Quaid-I-Azam, University Pakistan, in first division

I have done my thesis on "Interpretation of migrated Seismic Section of Chak Narang area (Chakwal of Pakistan)" for MSc degree in Geophysics from Quaid-I-Azam, University Pakistan, and hold one year Post Graduate Higher National Diploma in Computer Applications with Specialization in Management", from National Institute of Science, Islamabad. A strong background in physics and mathematics I got while doing my B.Sc. I have written some reports on "Processing of Marine Seismic reflection data from Lime Jordan by using software Pro Max" and on hydrocarbon Modeling and Well-Logging Interpretation by using the Mat lab and got weekly experience of field work on acquisition of the seismic reflection data.

I have finished my final thesis on "The Evolution History of the Farsund Basin during Pre-Zechstein Time to Recent Times". That is 2-D Seismic Interpretation Study of Migrated Data Set of FSB-88 Survey in the Sorgenfrei-Tornquist Zone, Fennoscandian Shield and Norwegian-Danish Basin by using the software The Kingdom 2D/3D Pak Suite+.

Aims and Objectives of this Research were followings:

* To interpret digitally the 2-D migrated seismic data by using The Kingdom Suite +7.4, 2D/3D Pak Interpretation within the study area. The data was shot by IMG in April-May, 1988, processed by CGG in October, 1988. The data contained, 38 migrated seismic lines, which were to be interpreted, covering the area of approximately 860 sq. kilometers.

* To mention the age of each particular reflector by using well log data, from drilled wells F-1, J-1, K-1, Felicia-1, 11/10-1, 11/8-1, 11/9-1 and 11/5-1 surrounding the target area (Farsund Basin(situated upper the northern Norwegian Danish Basin and lower the southern part of Norway within the Torquist Zone)).

* To construct the various time structure maps of particular age of reflectors to discuss the distribution of the chosen reflectors with respect to Two-Way Time (TWT) within the study area.

* To make some specific time isochore maps based on the base and top of their chosen reflectors and show the distribution of the thickness of sediments between them.

* To sketch the reconstruction of some specific seismic profiles having salt structures on them by using the surfer7 software (Surface Mapping System) to discuss the salt movement within the study area.

* Subsequently, to unravel and to study the geological, stratigraphic and structural evolution of the target study area.

* And also to depict the effects of uplifting and erosion due to the influences of salt movements from the Zechstien time to the Recent within the study area.

Processing of Marine Seismic reflection data from Lime Jordan by using software Pro Max2D (Landmark A Halliburton Company), while doing course work.

The learning outcomes of the project were followings.

* Creating, Accessing and working with ProMax Seismic Datasets.
* Data input/output.
* Editing/Muting Noise.
* Amplitude/AVO.
* Deconvolution.
* Filtering.
* Velocity analysis / Normal moveout correction.
* Stacking CDP/F-X Trace interpolation.
* Migration…Kirchhiff Time Migration
* Displaying the data.

I have been working as a "Geophysicist" with GeoScience Associates from Sep. 1999 to Oct 2001 where I worked as an Exploration Geophysicist and Data Interpreter. The experience which I got from my practical work during my education and work at the industry, gave me a great confidence on interpreting the data and writing the technical reports. The MSc courses in Geophysics and Petroleum Geology have given me a good grounding in this field, and I have developed a keen interest in pursuing my career as a geo-scientist.

As a consequences of a suitable combination of knowledge and experience particularly in Seismic data acquisition and interpretation, Well Log Interpretation, Seismic data Processing by using the computer software Pro-Max 2D (Landmark A Halliburton Company) and Hydrocarbon Modeling (using Mat lab) I am extremely interested in working as an Exploration Geophysicist/Geologist. I have comprehensive skills in 3-D seismic interpretation, Processing and data acquisition and Basin Modeling and hydrocarbon modeling, well logging.

I love exploring the Earth to find the nature's blessings for humankind. And I love to use my scientific knowledge in order to answer the structural, geological and stratigraphical questions by working as a seismic interpreter and making technical reports.

So therefore, I would like apply for Petroleum Geophysicist/Geologist position. Additionally I can work in other posts which will require scientific tasks such as Seismic Data Interpretation, Processing and Exploration, and Basin modeling.
