A total of more than 30 years of experience in the health, safety and environmental fields; four years working in occupational hygiene with a major offshore oil company, four years as a consultant specializing in oil & gas and auditing, eight years with tire manufacturing, seven years in the petrochemical industry, five years in the chemical industry and seven years in mining and smelting. Have a BST certificate for working in the offshore. Certified OHSAS 18001 Auditor.
RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE
* Presently working as an Industrial Hygienist with an offshore oil company. This includes ergonomics and food safety inspections, based on HACCP principles, in addition to traditional industrial hygiene management and supervision of consultants who perform specific project related studies in areas such as NORM, noise, etc.
* 4 years as Senior Occupational Hygienist with Jacques Whitford Consulting. Performed industrial hygiene audits and supervised technicians who performed industrial hygiene sampling. Audited companies for compliance with ISO 14001 and BSI 18001.
* 8 years as Manager of Health, Safety, and Environment for Michelin North America (Canada) Ltd. This function included performing Environmental and Health & Safety audits and developing HSE systems based on ISO 14001. Commenting to and meeting with regulatory officials. A significant part of the function was maintaining QC/QA on the HSE functions of the Canadian operations. This was a corporate function covering 4 manufacturing plants plus seven distribution centres across Canada.
* 7 years with Nova, a major petrochemical company. The company manufactured ethylene, polyethylene, styrene, and polystyrene across Canada and the U.S. Five years as HSE Manager at their Red Deer petrochemical facility. Two years as Senior Corporate Hygienist in the Calgary head office, providing technical assistance to the facilities on health and safety related to the petrochemical plants and pipeline facilities along with doing periodic audits on facilities throughout North America.
* 5 years with Allied Chemical. Three years at the Amherstburg manufacturing facility responsible for industrial hygiene and environment. Two years as Corporate Hygienist for two major manufacturing facilities and seven smaller plants. The company made soda ash, hydrofluoric acid, fluorocarbons, calcium chloride and alum.
* 7 years as Environmental Supervisor at the Noranda Horne Division, which is the largest custom copper smelter in the world. Functioned as the Director of the Industrial Hygiene laboratory. The lab was certified by the AIHA during that time.
