DETAILS OF EXPERIENCE:
1) Presently Working with MAJAN ELCTRICITY COMPANY SAOC - UTILITY CO. (formerly Ministry of Housing, Electricity & Water, (MHEW) MUSCAT, OMAN in their Projects Department. (From April 2000 to till date)
The regular works for Medium & High voltage substation & medium voltage transmission lines include:
- Identifying & finalizing the scope of works for the proposed substation projects 33KV
& 11KV transmission lines, Small power stations and extensions.
- Preparation of tender specification & documents; approvals & tender floating. Evaluation of tenders, technically & commercially, preparation of comparative statements. Order finalization in consultation with senior authorities.
- Monitoring, control & follow-up, supervision of projects for smooth execution of works, for payments and contractual matters. Interacting with suppliers, contractors, consultants & internal departments, site co-ordination and overall site supervision.
- Drawings & specification approvals of the substation equipments/layouts & schematics. Inspection at local Manufactures works for equipments.
- Procurement of loose electrical equipment /items.
- Technical evaluations of products and recommendations.

2) Worked with GUJARAT STATE FERTILIZERS &CHEMICALS LTD. GSFC (India) (From Jan 1990 To March 2000). GSFC is India's largest integrated fertilizers complex that have also diversified in to the manufacturing of Nylon, Melamine, Caprolactam, and Industrial gases, Acrylics, Power etc. GSFC has present annual turn over of above $ 500 million.
a) Initially, worked for four years, at M/s GSFC's 150 million US $ CAPROLACTAM EXPANSION PROJECT - Electrical Group. Project included electrical items like HT Switchgears, Transformers, Power & Motor Control Centers, HT & LT motors, Cables, UPS, Batteries, Distribution systems etc.
The day-to-day work involved:
Procurement activities of various electrical items as mentioned as above; which included scrutinizing offers technically & commercially, monitor, control and supervise project activities, interacting with suppliers on techno commercial matters, expediting etc.
Inspection of Equipments at suppliers' works.
Interaction with consultant M/s Uhde India Ltd (Affiliated to Uhde, GmBH, Germany)
Supervision of Installation, Testing & Commissioning work of electrical substations, motors & other equipments.
Maintenance of above plant for 2 years after commissioning.
b) Worked for M/s GSFC's 300 million US $ Ammonia Expansion Project - Construction group (Electrical) (From Nov. 1993 To Apr.2000) This Project included a variety of 11 KV & LT equipments like 11 KV switchgears, 11, 3.3 KV & LT motors, PMCCs & MCCs, batteries & chargers, UPS, LT distributions and also a 25 MW generator.
The day-to–day work involved:
- Supervision, monitoring and coordination of construction, installations of electrical equipments, cable laying & allied equipments. Testing & commissioning of electrical equipments
- Interactions with contractors, consultant (Technimont ICB& Linde; Germany), suppliers and Civil, Mechanical, Instruments groups for site/project activities.
- Procurement of erection tools, testing instruments etc.
- Setting up /catering to construction power & lighting requirements of site contractors which included establishment of 11 KV substation.
- Maintenance of above electrical equipments for above plant for 2 ½ years.
3) Worked with ASEA BROWN BOVERI LTD (ABB), India (Indian arm of world renowned ABB Group) in their Project Engineering Division – Contracts Group) (From 23.8.84 to 28.12.89)
At ABB, work involved tendering as well as execution of Turnkey basis Electrical Projects. The Turn key projects of 132 KV, 220KV & 400 KV switchyards included Circuit Breakers, Tower Structures, Lightning Arrestors, Insulators, Transformers, Current & Voltage Transformers, related Civil works & sundry works. The day-to day work in above-mentioned area included following activities:
* Planning and monitoring for of various projects related activities up to smooth order execution including commissioning, & outstanding collections.
* Interaction with customers and consultants on techno commercial matters & contractual matters. Inspections with customers. Interaction with suppliers on techno commercial matters, inspection, expediting etc.
* Work co-ordination for site activities including visits to site at regular intervals.
* Inter department liaison for projects (purchase, technical, finance etc.)
Some of the Major projects handled as contracts engineer are:
- 400 KV switching station at National Thermal Power Corpn. (NTPC) Agra,
- 220/33 KV switchyard at Konkan for M/s Century Enka Limited.
- 132/11 KV switchyard at Aurangabad for M/s Bajaj Auto Limited.
- 132 KV switchyard erection package at hydro Power plants for government of Maharashtra.
