4. TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Considerable expertise in dealing with corrosion control of oil and gas installations, resulting from over twenty years of relevant experience in upstream (exploration, development and production of crude oil and natural gas), midstream (pipeline transportation and storage of crude oil and natural gas) and downstream (crude oil refining, petrochemicals production, distribution of oil products and natural gas) activities in oil and gas industry. Some of the technical skills are categorized as follows:

4.1 General:
- Corrosion testing, monitoring, failure analysis and troubleshooting.

- Corrosion and protection of metallic systems; control methods for internal surfaces in various environments (materials selection, alteration of environment by using inhibitors as well as oxygen scavengers and biocide chemicals, linings, cathodic protection) and external surfaces in soil and water (coatings, cathodic protection).

- Corrosion control of installations at every stage of oil production, from initial extraction of primary production and secondary recovery to refining and storage prior to use.

4.2 Specific:
- Field monitoring and control of the primary corrosive agents found in oilfield installations (carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, dissolved oxygen, sulfate-reducing bacteria).

- Control of microbial activity and souring problems in oilfield water handling systems and reservoirs.

- Development of laboratory systems to assess biocide performance against sessile (surface-attaching) bacteria in biofilms.

- Development of efficacious oilfield and water treatment biocides and corrosion inhibitor chemicals.

- Laboratory and field evaluation of coatings for underground applications.

- Cathodic protection of steel structures internal surfaces (pipelines, surface and elevated water storage tanks; condensers and heat exchangers; processing tanks and vessels, etc.) and external surfaces (onshore oil well casings, underground and submerged oil and gas pipeline systems, underground fuel/oil tanks; on-grade storage tank bottoms, offshore oil-drilling rigs, etc.)

- Cathodic protection criteria assessment and standardization of underground steel structures by correction of field monitoring potential measurement errors.

- Effect of bacteria on cathodic protection and coating disbondment of underground metallic pipelines.

- Innovative approach to biocorrosion by utilizing the destructive effects of corrosive bacteria to develop microbial batteries.
