Purpose and scope: To enable company operating objectives of availability, reliability, and safety to be achieved in the area of rotating equipment. Assists Maintenance, Operations and other disciplines in applying sound engineering practice in the field of plant machinery.
Duties include: Diagnosing and analyzing faults and problems on rotating equipment, determining the desired corrective action, mobilizing resources and monitoring the work through to completion.
- Being part of a small team running a predictive maintenance program on over 900 items of plant rotating machinery using vibration based condition monitoring equipment. Other monitoring techniques utilized includes oil, seal oil leak, rotor shaft currents and performance.
- Overseeing Maintenance, Operations and Workshop repair activities where required and providing necessary technical input.
- Closely involved with the term overhaul of the main turbocompressors, including defining workscope and providing a QA/QC function to contractors and Operations activities.
- Ensures availability and acceptability of the stores inventories of spare parts for the major rotating equipment.
Site machinery includes: -Steam turbines up to 45 MW driving centrifugal compressors, steam and gas turbo-generators up to 18 MW, screw and reciprocating. compressors, steam and motor driven process pumps, fans and compressors.
Equipment utilised includes: CSI 2120 data-collector analyzer with RBM software, Bently Nevada ADRE system, IRD models 880, 890, 818 & 245, BN Balance Master 2 Field Balancing kit, IRD B200 and B10 shop balancing machines, Bently Nevada DM2000 and TM2000 on-line monitoring/analysis systems. Optilign laser alignment equipment, B&K vibration analyzing equipment, Tape recorders, oscilloscopes.
Teroman maintenance system, AGMICS Stores systems and SAP system.
