Experience at Reliance from 30.08.95 to 13.09.01

Reliance operates a 650,000 bpd Oil refinery at Jamnagar, which is world's third largest refinery. I worked for 4 years at this massive Jamnagar complex. Reliance also operates a gigantic petrochemicals complex at Hazira (Surat), which has Cracker. PP, PE, PTA, PVC and
MEG plants. I worked for 2 years at Hazira Petrochemicals Complex.

- Resolving vibration problem in ship loading pumps and cooling water pumps by cutwater clearance changes, bull-ring insertion and de-staging.
- Testing and evaluating various liquid fuels available in refinery for Gas turbines (GE
Frame 6). Result of the study was saving in fuel cost with sustained reliability.
- Identifying failure cause and implementing modification for screw compressor in
LPG service. This was established to be design problem and free replacement compressor units were received from the vendor.
- Root Cause Analysis for increasing vibration trend in 33 MW Turbo Generator and giving recommendations for reliability improvement. This study highlighted importance of maintaining extraction flow rates.
- Successful and safe commissioning and start up of the Jamnagar refinery complex and Hazira Petrochemical Complex.

Experience at Tata Chemicals from 04.09.91 to 28.08.95:

Tata Chemicals Limited is a part of India's No. 2 Private sector TATA Group. Job exposure included the following.

* Major Overhauling of heavy rotating equipment like Steam turbines, compressors and multistage pumps.
* Established lube oil analysis program.
* Provided proximity probes for 11 MW steam turbine.
* Commissioning of 17 MW Siemens-BHEL steam turbine generators.
* Installation and commissioning of Atlas Copco screw compressors.
* Spares review for all rotating equipment.
