SUMMARY Over 28 years of experience in lead positions on project and process engineering assignments involving the supervision of engineers and technical staff, technical and economic assessments, cost estimation, proposal preparation, project management, regulation interpretation, litigation and DESIGN. Stress analysis designs on ferrous and nonferrous metals, reinforced plastics, thermoplastics, wood, glass to codes.
Evaluation of changes to materials subject to excessive temperature and pressure causing failure with time, and short term tests to ASTM and BS codes to evaluate tensile stress failure criteria. Evaluation of change in structure of materials by light and scanning microscopy, thermal gradient creep testing with property changes. Comparisons to ASTM and ASME codes of material constituents of test materials. General familiarity with non destructive testing techniques. Completion of detailed design structural calculations to ASME code to obtain Canadian CRN numbers.
Lab evaluation of non standard pressure parts by insitu lab testing with unique test specimens in constraining mechanisms to evaluate specific strength in hoop, radial etc. directions. Literature publications on stress analysis.

Biofouling and corrodent effects to alter the material microstructure and wall thickness diminishing the allowable working stress. Chemical impurity defects in metals altering the long term strength capabilities.

Pollution control activities involved environmental audits, water contamination studies, and industrial waste and sewage treatment design. Also involved in stack sampling and gas dispersion monitoring of nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides and other airborne particles for stack design basis.
Also conducted studies in flue gas desulphurization, acid rain and occupational health emphasizing indoor air quality.

Specific design experience includes heat / mass balancing,
P & ID development, piping design to ASME B 31.1 ( steam ), and B 31.3 ( e.g. propane ) codes, pump sizing, fan sizing etc. for dust control equipment, fabric filters, electrostatic precipitators, cyclones, venturi scrubbers, ventilation systems, ash disposal systems and boiler water pretreatment, condensate polishing and internal boiler treatment. Pressure vessel design to ASME Sections VIII etc. Water management on thermal power stations. Municipal waste water treatment by coagulants and flocculants, trickling filter process assessment, manganese greensand filter evaluations,
UV radiation and ozonation treatment comparisons to chlorination of wastewater.

Communication skills by microcomputer word processing programs, project management programs, design computation for unit operations. Design manual preparation for nuclear industries on tritium extraction and heavy water technology. Public presentations on technical subjects to scientists, engineers and legal counsel. DEVELOPMENT of H-P calculator programmes on heat transfer in shell and tube oil heating. Literature articles accepted. Operated independent professional services company since 1983 subsequent to large consulting engineers assignments from 1971, and general R & D, refinery, pulp mill work, surveying work in 1962 to 1966 summer period.
