MAJOR PROJECTS
Orion Tract Operations - Negotiated and drafted participation agreements for tract operations to drill key delineation well in Prudhoe Bay Unit resulting in significant increase to Chevron's participating interest in the Unit and providing basis for the successful completion of a two-year effort to align interests across the Unit.
Tahiti Prospect – Negotiated trade to acquire outstanding interest in drill site block for major discovery in deepwater Gulf of Mexico in exchange for interest in a Shelf Business Unit property. Required coordination between Deepwater and Shelf Business Unit management to reach agreement in the best interest of Chevron. Timely completion of agreements including Operating Agreement provided needed slot for drill ship. Received Recognition Award from Deepwater Business Unit for efforts.
Typhoon Prospect Royalty Relief – Provided regulatory support for successful application under Deep Water Royalty Relief Act resulting in a potential savings to project of $20 million insuring sanctioning of what had been a marginal project.
Typhoon Project Commercial Agreements - Negotiated final terms and drafted Construction and Interconnect Agreements for processing and transportation of production from Typhoon production platform including contribution of $15 million towards cost of construction and installation of TLP facility.
Gamera Prospect – Negotiated Exchange Agreement and Operating Agreement allowing Chevron to operate the project on behalf of Shell in order to provide needed slot for drill ship.
Neptune Prospect – Negotiated and drafted revised Participation Agreements and Operating Agreement allowing Chevron to assume operatorship of project following non-consent by the operator two weeks prior to scheduled arrival of drill ship. Received Recognition Award from Land Business Unit for efforts.
Pennzoil Stock Exchange Agreement – As Land Manger of spin-off company formed to facilitate stock exchange, staffed and organized 29 member Land Department to support activities of Transition Team (ongoing operations) and Exit Team (property disposition) in connection with the transfer of 266 producing fields using surplus and loaned employees and contract land personnel. Supervised the compilation of land data for all properties. Coordinated the preparation, execution and recordation of assignments of all private, State, OCS and BLM leases, rights of way and surface agreements. Provided transitional land services to purchaser consisting of division land support, division order and lease administration services and regulatory reporting and filing activities. Successfully represented Chevron in the resolution of title defects and environmental defects claimed by purchaser resulting in saving company over $4 million.
OCS Central and Western Gulf of Mexico Lease Sales – Coordinated bid preparation and submission for Central and Western GOM lease sales from 1997 to 2001 for Deepwater and Shelf Business Units including bid strategy and joint bidding arrangements. Facilitated the application of property exchange funds toward bonus payments on successful bids resulting in significant tax savings to company. Received Recognition Award from Chevron Real Estate Management for efforts.
MMS Five-Year Leasing Plan – Drafted comments to the Director, Minerals Management Service on behalf of Chevron in support of open access to leasing areas and advocating the removal of restrictions on development in sensitive areas of the Gulf of Mexico.
PARTICIPATION ON COMMITTEES AND PROJECT TEAMS
* Member of AAPL sub-committee to draft a model form Deepwater Operating Agreement. Drafted modified version of model form for use by Chevron.
* Member of API sub-committee on Federal Royalty Management and Compliance. Met personally with the Director, Minerals Management Service to discuss industry concerns with MMS position on valuation of production for payment of royalties under federal leases.
* Chaired project team responsible for developing performance measures for Chevron's Land Business Unit and creating process and tools for soliciting evaluation of overall and individual performance from internal customers.
* Co-chaired project team charged with providing model agreement forms for use by ChevronTexaco's post-merger Land units. Developed process to draft, catalogue and retrieve forms utilizing an Oracle data base.
* Member of team selected to train employees in new corporate-wide Performance Management Process. Trained land units in Houston, Midland, Denver and New Orleans in the implementation of the process.

Senior Staff Land Representative – Alaska Business Unit – Houston, TX (January 2002 – present) Supported Regional Development Manager in negotiating and drafting participation agreements for tract operations to drill key delineation well in Prudhoe Bay Unit resulting in increasing Chevron's participating interest in the Unit. Assisted Exploration efforts to exploit opportunities in the Northwest NPRA. Coordinated assignments of former Texaco interests to Chevron following ChevronTexaco merger. Reviewed and analyzed participation agreements, processing agreements and operating agreements affecting Prudhoe Bay, Kuparuk River, Colville River and Falls Creek Units and updated data base to correctly reflect Chevron's current ownership interest in core Alaska properties. Negotiated sale of former Texaco property resulting in relieving company from potential environmental liability.
Senior Staff Land Representative – Deepwater Gulf of Mexico – New Orleans, LA (July 1995 – December 2001) Provided full range of land services for Chevron's Gulf of Mexico Deepwater Business Unit. Supported Exploration team in acquisition of leases through MMS Lease Sales including bid strategies and joint bidding agreements. Negotiated joint venture agreements and exchange agreements and drafted joint operating agreements and rig sharing agreements. Supported appraisal and development teams through analysis of JOA provisions and negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements for processing and transportation of production. Provided guidance on successful application under Deep Water Royalty Relief Act resulting in a potential savings to project of $20 million. Provided legislative and regulatory review and comments resulting in revision of proposed MMS regulations. Member of AAPL sub-committee to draft a model form Deepwater Operating Agreement. Developed Oracle data base to compile model forms for use by each of ChevronTexaco's post-merger geographic Land units.

Manager of Royalty Compliance and Appeals – Houston, TX (Sept. 1990 – Dec. 1991)
Counseled Vice-President and General Manager – Land and the Manger – Royalties, Valuation and Compliance to ensure the company was in full compliance with all laws and regulations regarding allocation and valuation of oil and gas. Supervised the activities of four attorneys in providing legal counsel to Supply & Distribution, Natural Gas Sales and land, production and finance departments regarding royalty valuation and compliance including risk assessment of operational policy decisions. Reviewed and responded to audit inquiries from outside auditors including the MMS. Met personally with the Director, Minerals Management Service to discuss industry concerns as member of API sub-committee. Coordinated appeals of adverse decisions to the Director, Minerals Management Service and Interior Board of Land Appeals. Developed and implemented Performance Measures for the Land Business Unit.
District Land Supervisor – South and East Texas District – Houston, TX (Oct. 1988 – Dec. 1989) Supervised land activities in support of Exploration and Production Business Unit programs including ownership checks, lease acquisition, examination of titles, negotiation of farmouts, contributions and operating agreements. Provided interpretation and analysis of contracts. Personally negotiated lease terms on lessor prepared forms. Trained land units in implementation of new corporate Performance Management Process.
Manager of Lease Administration – Houston, TX (Dec. 1987 – September 1988)
Supervised Lease Maintenance and Royalties Sections in support of Southern Region Land Department. Directed monthly preparation and review of lease rental recommendation schedules, lease surrender recommendations and shut-in well reports. Supervised the review of title documents and the determination of royalty ownership. Implemented upward appraisal process for self and direct reports to better provide leadership for lease and royalty analysts.
District Land Supervisor – South Texas District – Houston, TX (July 1985 – Dec. 1987)
Supervised land activities in support of Exploration and Production Business Unit programs in South Texas including Chevron's Laredo Lobo program. Directed ownership checks covering 25,000 acres. Member of Land Study Team that determined land organization and staffing requirements for new land organization following Gulf Oil merger. Drafted various sections of revised land department operations manual.
