Technical Manager (Assets Manager) – Nigeria, Africa
Directed all technical operations under Facilities, Drilling, Production, and Reservoir Engineering Departments within Nigeria. Administered a US$240 million annual budget and managed a staff of 14 expatriate and 34 national employees.
* Set daily production record of 42,000 BOPD.
* Achieved operating cost per barrel of $5.39.
* Managed two separate Operating Petroleum Licenses – onshore and offshore without any lost time accidents for 2003 (168 employees).
* Coordinated startup of 2004 campaign to drill and complete 8 horizontal wells, construct and install five offshore shallow water platforms, lay 24 kms of pipeline, upgrade and expand existing gas-lift systems, and construct additional oil storage facilities.
CMS OIL & GAS COMPANY, Houston, TX 1984 - 2001
(An independent oil and gas exploration company with $700 million in assets)
General Manager - Equatorial Guinea, Africa (1997 – 2001)
Managed production, construction, development drilling, and government relations for operations in Equatorial Guinea, Africa. Directed activities of 31 expatriate employees and 84 national workers. Administered an annual operations budget of $12 million.
* Implemented a $135 million production acceleration program that included drilling five development wells, setting two offshore platforms, and installing a 19-mile sub-sea pipeline. Production was increased from 6200 BOPD to over 14,000 BOPD. Entire company interest later sold for $983 million at a significant gain.
* Directed the construction of a $15 million 10MW power generation plant for the government of Equatorial Guinea. Coordinated staffing and training national and expatriate workers for the facility. This plant is the primary power producing plant for the capital of Equatorial Guinea.
* Negotiated approval for start date, access and initial construction of the $400 million AMPCO methanol plant. Currently, this plant is producing 20,000 barrels of methanol per day adjacent to CMS operations in Equatorial Guinea.
* Directed all in country expenditures for the Alba condensate and gas production project. Project had the lowest company international operation cost at $5.00 per barrel.
* Interviewed and selected contractors for $30 million housing project and $2 million airport road projects for methanol plant and Alba Project. Prepared scope of work and supervised startup for each project.
Planning & Development Manager (1993 – 1997)
Directed exploration and development programs in Venezuela, Colombia, and Ecuador. Identified economic prospects, recommended acreage acquisition, and planned drilling schedules. Approved combined yearly budget of $34 million for Venezuela, Ecuador, and Colombia. Constructed and reconciled the yearly company $135 million capital budget. Managed a technical staff of three.
* Interpreted 4500 kms of 2-D and 1002 kms of 3-D seismic data in Venezuela Colon Block that resulted in two field discoveries and development locations.
* Directed mapping and seismic interpretation of the Rosario Field in the Colon Block, Venezuela that led to a successful two-year development program.
* Proposed a financial procedure to convert US dollars to Venezuelan currency saving $ 1.2 million in six months.
* Recommended horizontal drilling program in Ecuador water drive reservoir that significantly increased oil production and reduced produced water.
* Mapped a complex over-thrust oil field in Colombia that resulted in additional development wells and a production increase of over 5000 BOPD.
