Custodian for safety & emergency, control systems & fiscal metering.
Duties include fault finding, planning maintenance and project modifications to the following systems:
Honeywell TDC 3000 DCS system
YISS (GTI) shutdown systems (including F&G, ESD trip & alarm testing)
Oil & Gas Fiscal metering systems
Avon and Solar turbine control systems
General instrumentation custodian
Also accountable for Water Injection / Produced Water and Gas Compression, Lift, treatment and export systems, awaiting NVQ validation.

Specialist Systems Engineer January 1998 – August 2001
Honeywell Control Systems Ltd.
Job Function: Systems engineer primarily dealing with the maintenance, upgrade and modifications of TDC3000, Total Plant TPS control, shutdown and Fire & Gas systems.

Main responsibilities:
1) Lead Engineer for 4 Oil & Gas platforms and backup for a further 4 platforms
Duties included problem management (using Siebel GSSN) by reviewing and actioning outstanding issues, maintenance procedures, spares parts holding, preventative, corrective, technical and contractual issues.

2) On site preventative maintenance visits, point release upgrades, assisting with breakdowns and call-outs as required, covered under support contract.

3) Project engineering work including commissioning of the new systems on various systems on platforms & onshore plants.

4) Holiday cover for resident engineers on the Chevron Alba and Texaco Captain platforms including modifications.

5) General system architecture and crash recovery training for instrument / operations technicians

During 1998/9 involved in Release 500 and Year 2000 hardware and software upgrades with Year 2000 rollover testing on various sites, onshore and offshore..

Operations Technician August 1993 - January 1998
Shell Exploration and Production UK Ltd.
Job Function: Instrument/ Operations Technician located on the Cormorant Alpha oil and gas production platform.
Main responsibilities:
1) Stand in Technical Custodian Instruments. Duties as TCI listed above.

2) Accountable operator for Gas systems. Main duties were start up routine and non-routine operation of Sulzer and Peter Brotherhood compressors. This also includes a gas sweetening and dehydration plants. Ordering and control of chemicals in line with Shell standards and COSHH. Fuel gas and drains/ high pressure blowdown systems were also part of the gas system.

3) Accountable operator for Oil Export. Main duties included start up of Avon turbine driven pump used as Brent Systems Main Oil Pump, as well as platforms own export and import process via the concrete storage cells. Also included in this area were prover loop and fiscal metering of Cormorant and Brent systems oil.

During the Control Systems Update/ Pelican project (CSU 1994-1996), decommissioning, tie-in and re-commissioning of general instrumentation, TDC3000 distributed control system, shutdown (GTI) and Wormald Fire and Gas systems.
