DUTY: Develop software for DataVan Unit to implement real time data logging from PLCs, multi-unit conversion on the real time HMI screens and SCADA management to fit one package to multiple requirements without multiple different copies. Develop PLC and HMI software for Automated Coiled Tubing Unit to implement reel tension control, injector cruise speed control … shutdown procedures etc.

2) BJ Service Company Inc.
DUTY: Design and implement the Data Acquisition and Monitoring System for BJ's Coiled Tubing Drilling Downhole Tools. Programming in Visual Basic to communicate with Downhole Tools assembly through serial interface and process the raw data into proper algorithms in order to generate the required log files, screen displays and animations for real time operation, QA analysis and research for different group of personnel with different purpose. The whole software package consists of Paragon TNT SCADA, Visual Basic SurPass™ program and a set of supplemental programs. Design and implement the data acquisition, calculation, calibration and interfacing program in C++ Builder for a prototyped Coiled Tubing Inspection Tools. It enables fast and real time data capturing from serial port, data parsing, processing and calculation, online calibration and interfacing with BJ's centralized JobMaster system.

3) Schlumberger Technologies Inc. (A US Company in Houston)
DUTY: Technical support and service for installation, commissioning, functional improvement, software upgrading and etc. on Schlumberger's Coiled Tubing Express units (CTX). System consists of two sets of Siemens S300 PLC, FactoryLink HMI and a customized Visual C++ application program interface between third party application software via Ethernet connection and CAN bus devices by integrating them into FactoryLink HMI for real time operation and data sharing.

4) Lethbridge Water Treatment Plant Inc. (A Canada Company in Southern Alberta)
DUTY: Working on a project to centralize 5 Siemens PLC control stations up to Master Siemens PLC station through the ModBus networking and incorporate the Master PLC station into the existing plant SCADA system to enable the central monitoring, supervising and distributed local control. Implement the PLC code in Master PLC to coordinate the operation of 5 ModBus slave units, plant automation and safety interlocks.

5) Rolls-Royce Canada Ltd.
DUTY: Technical field support and consulting for Siemens HMI and PLC etc. automation products which are used to control Rolls-Royce Turbine Engine & Generator system.

2. National Oilwell Hitec System and Control Inc. (A US Company in Calgary)
DURATION: April 2001—May 2003
TITLE: Controls Engineer
DUTY: Design and implement the HMI and PLC into the control system for oil well drilling rig to suit customer's control expectation and draft the functional design specification (FDS). Provide the technical phone support and field service to the customers.
Major projects involved:
1. Work on the project for a land-based oil well rig as a system programmer to integrate company's SDI (Smart Drilling Instrumentation system) into the whole control system. The SDI consists of one HMI of Factory Link SCADA and one Siemens S7 300 PLC. Test the interfacing with other company's products to allow the third part control system integrated into our control system for the data sharing and control coordination.
2. Work on integrating Eaton brake control system into customer's drilling rig for the customer from a drilling company in China. Modify the HMI of Factory Link SCADA and the Siemens S7-300 PLC control code to meet the customer's specific rig demand.
3. Work on a Coiled Tubing Offshore Express system as a HMI programmer. Implement the customer's specification into company's clink Standard to build up a customized Dual Screen HMI SCADA system by programming on Intellution's iFIX 2.6. The project was successfully finished by three weeks traveling to sister company in Norway and four week's site commissioning in Houston, US.
4. Modify the source code in C language for a multitasking Factory Link driver in order to update it to work with the new type of PCI bus based CAN bus card instead of previous ISA bus base CAN bus card.
5. Develop a data recorder program running on the Linux operating system to collect the data from serial port sent from one type of company's patent digital measuring meter.
6. Develop and debug embedded system programming in C language for a stepper motor driven gauge and research for its interface of Profibus-DP.

DURATION: January 2001—February 2001
TITLE: Contractor Control Engineer
CLIENT: TriBotics Systems Inc.
DUTY: Modifying and debugging the HMI and its communication driver to Omron PLC by bare Visual Basic programming. Write the control code for Omron PLC and PC based Motion Controller (Acroloop) by its own developing toolkit called AcroBasic in order to run the automated frame cutting and trimming machine.

DUTY: Working in Project Engineering Department to take charge of control system planning, designing, implementation, commissioning and startup for various projects and customers.

1. Upgrade six Citect SCADA workstations from V2.01 to V5.20 in order to settle Y2K problem and improve the performance. Modify the ladder logic program in Modicon 984 PLC to enhance the control logic on the production line. Located in China
2. A SCADA networking system composed of eight workstations covering the area up to 1000KM2 by using Citect SCADA to collect the real time river system data from 20 local RTU and log into Sybase RTDB for the project of China Grand Canal monitoring system. Located in China
3. A real time data acquisition station on Windows NT 4.0 Server to poll the data from OMRON PLC into Intellution iFIX SCADA. Meanwhile make an interfacing program in VBA to transfer the data records collected from production line into the Microsoft SQL server with the functionality to consolidate the records among several relational databases tables and print out the reports based on the data stored within the SQL Server for analysis. Using Seagate Crystal Report develops the format of the reports. Located in Thailand.
4. Be a project engineer and system programmer in a project for designing and implementing the control system of the Life Safety System in a new semiconductor manufacturing plant. The control system includes one redundant Siemens S7-400 PLC, two Siemens WinCC SCADA servers redundant to each other and one Electrical control panel. Located in Singapore.
5. Setup an E-mail server using Microsoft Exchange Server.

DURATION: June 1997—June 1998
TITLE: Contract DCS Engineer (Contractor assignment from Singapore)
DUTY: Being a startup helper to commission and setup the new plant into production by working with the other startup helpers from other Dupont's subsidiary companies in other countries. Carrying out the tasks such as loop checking, planning, scheduling, installation, calibration, inspection, supervising, testing, maintenance and analysis of control process from DCS workstation to all the instrumentation and electrical end devices or control panels in order to verify the designed functions and specifications Running 24 hours shift standby with local E/I engineers and technicians to support the plant commissioning and startup and meanwhile providing local staff with technical support and on-line training. Improving the DCS (Honeywell TDC-3000X LCN) control program and configuration with DCS engineers to adjust the control functionality.

7. LTG Air Engineering (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. (A Germany MNC)
DUTATION: July 1995—May 1997
TITLE: Instrumentation & Control Engineer
DUTY: Responsible for the control system designing, technical support and service, plant start-up and commissioning for the large scale industrial air conditioning system (HVAC) manufactured by LTG headquarters in Germany.
Major Projects involved:
1. Programming Honeywell S9000 PLC and configuring Intellution's Fix32 HMI. Engaged in the commissioning and plant start-up for three months on site. Located in South Korean
2. Engaged in another similar project for four months in Indonesia. The desired control function had to be embedded in one HPM of Honeywell TDC 3000 DCS. Thus all programming and configuration tasks were implemented by the development platform on Honeywell TDC 3000 DCS.

DURATION: August 1994 – June 1995
TITLE: Contract Electrical & Instrument Engineer
DUTY: Providing technical servicing and project implementation such as installation, calibration, trouble-shooting and designing for the electrical & electronic instrumentation control systems. Commissioning the chemical process control involving sorts of instrumentation devices such as process value sensor or detector, transmitter, chemical analyzer, process controller (PID & on-off), control valve, signal conditioner, pump, blower, boiler, electrical control panel and equipment in accordance with the customer's requirements.
