Petroleum Industry Experience
May 2005 to present ConocoPhillips, Canada (Expatriate in Houston)
Advisor, Thermal and Solvent EOR, Heavy Oil Technology.
Assignments include development and evaluation of new technologies for potential application for the recovery of viscous oil assets in Canada, North Slope of Alaska and Venezuela. I am also involved in few other projects world wide.

November 1998 to May 2005
Suncor Energy Inc., Calgary, Canada.
Senior Reservoir / Production Engineer, In-Situ Technology.
Achievements:
1.Evaluation and monitoring of emerging technologies, development of new technologies.
2.Carried out simulation studies on different thermal and solvent recovery processes.
3.Monitored day to day operation of a Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage pilot operation. Recommendations improved performance – SOR reduced to 2.3 from 4.5-5.0
4.Completed reservoir engineering, designed and implemented the solvent based ESSAGD process in the Burnt Lake pilot.
5.Patented three energy efficient process for the recovery of heavy oil and bitumen, one of these ideas is being tested in a pilot.
6.Carried out reservoir engineering, designed, implemented and operated a thermal solvent pilot.
7.Worked on reservoir engineering and well completion design for two 35,000bpd stages of a commercial SAGD project. Developed the operating strategy, started and operated the project.
8.Handled regulatory and environmental issues associated with these projects.
9.Co-ordinates the GHG emission reduction and CO2 storage issues as a part of an international CO2 Capture Project (This project was initiated by BP in 1999).
10.Contributed to the evaluation of Cheecham (Long Lake) and Burnt lake properties
11.Worked on the Long Range Planning and production forecast.
12.Initiated a $10 Million Low Pressure SAGD Pilot project. Personal initiative ensured participation of other industries in this project in terms of $2 Million participation fees. Also taken initiative to get a Government grant of $3 Million.

May 1984 to August 1991 Oil and natural Gas Commission, India.
I have worked in Onshore Oil Fields in the heavy oil belt of India as an Executive Engineer (Production). I was assigned to the following duties:
1. Work over rig in-charge
2. Engineer, Well Completions/ Artificial Lifts
3. In-charge, Production fishing operations
4. Engineer, Down hole Services and Wire line Operations
5. Design and procurement of surface and subsurface equipments
All of these assignments involved a considerable amount of hands on experience, project management and liaison and co-ordination with in-house or external agencies.

June '95 to Nov. 98
Petroleum Recovery Institute, Calgary, Canada.
Senior Research Engineer
Project leader for two research projects:
(1) Mechanistic modelling of the Vapex process
(2) Project Engineering and Economic Analysis of the Vapex Process.
These projects were sponsored by 15 Canadian and International companies. Funding in each project was to the tune of C$500 k per year. Apart from these, I was involved as a team member in several other projects on heavy oil development in Canada and Venezuela.
