QATAR PETROLEUM, QATAR 1998 - 2007
The company is the national petroleum development authority, responsible for much of the country's revenue. The Company has upgraded its Dukhan field (DCFUP) under a one-billion riyal contract, and completed work on Phase 1 of the Ras Laffan Common Cooling Water Project (CCWP) – the largest infrastructure project ever undertaken by Qatar Petroleum. The Company has now embarked on Phase 2 of the project.
Senior Electrical Engineer - CCWP
Reviewed and developed conceptual studies and front-end engineering documentation with Electrowatt in Zurich, for Phase 1 of the Common Cooling Water Project (CCWP).
Re-located to the Chiyoda offices in Japan in order to monitor, coordinate and approve the detailed electrical design for the CCWP. Equipment included 9 x 7.05MW variable speed drives with integrated SCADA/DCS supervision and an electrochlorination plant.
Returned to site in order to finalise design and vendor issues, and to assist with construction and commissioning activities.
Prepared scope of work, assisted in tender documentation/bid review for the front-end engineering of Phase 2 of the project. Supervised the front-end design at the Technip offices in Abu Dhabi.
Supervise, coordinate and approve the detailed electrical design for the one billion dollar Phase 2 of the project. Equipment includes a 220kV substation, 18 x 7.5MW variable speed drives with integrated SCADA/DCS supervision and another electrochlorination plant.
Senior Project Engineer - DCFUP
Responsible for the timely completion of upgrades on the Dukhan Project. Reviewed drawings and monitored construction and commissioning activities that were progressing on 21 sites, ensuring compliance with scope of work, specifications and contract documents.
Attended Factory Acceptance Tests on major equipment for the project.
Met with EPIC Contractor and Production/Operations in order to coordinate activities on operational plant.
Coordinated efforts with overseas vendors for the issue of final documentation, spares and closeout of Purchase Orders.

Lead Electrical Engineer - Nigerian Agip Oil Co., Nigeria
Based in London, and responsible for the front-end engineering and upgrade of the Obiafu/Obrikom Gas Plant, power generation and associated distribution facilities.
Developed area classification drawings for the expansion of the oil and gas processing facilities.
Coordinated with instrumentation section on cables, schedules and power requirements.

Consulting Engineer - Great Man-Made River Authority, Libya
Responsible for monitoring contractor activities involved in the construction and commissioning of the Generation, Transmission and Distribution system in the Sarir/Tazerbo Wellfield areas, and in the expansion at the Agoco Refinery, by ensuring compliance with specifications and contract documents.
Provided advice and field support to ensure quality and technical adequacy of the electrical network, pump stations, power station and refinery expansion.
Supervised the installation, testing, commissioning and hand-over of a gas/oil-fired power plant, (6 x 20MW Gas Turbine units) 66/33kV substations, O/H lines, motor control units and building services.
Prepared design reports for the modification of schematic drawings, reviewed commissioning procedures and protection relay settings, and approved contractor submissions of technical changes and As-Built drawings.
Senior Staff/Consulting Engineer - Ras Lanuf Oil & Gas Processing Co., Libya
Responsible for final decisions on designs and specifications for equipment on the new Petrochemical Complex (220,00 B/D Refinery, 1,000,000 tpa Naptha Cracker, Gas Compressors, Power/Desalination Station, Marine Loading and Off-site facilities) and the New Town.
Reviewed vendor and design engineering contractor drawings, finalized layout and compliance with IEC/API/NFPA codes, and executed technical/commercial evaluation of vendor bids to ensure compliance with specifications and contract documents.
Reviewed hazardous area classification drawings of the various design contractors.
On completion of design, was responsible for the commissioning, electrical maintenance and electrical operations on the project. (Refinery, Ethylene Plant, Gas Compressors, Power Station, Harbour, Off-site facilities and the New Town)

A large construction company with major projects in the Middle East. My assignment was at the Gubrah Power and Desalination Plant, Muscat.
