OBJECTIVE

APPC is new upcoming Polypropylene/PDH plant (NTH Technology) where I was solely responsibility for engineering work of lab, procurement of lab equipment, manpower recruitment, supervises commissioning and start-up activity of laboratory. DETAIL OF WORK EXPERIENCE

1) Advance Polypropylene Company, Jubail, KSA, - July 2006 to till date

Advanced Polypropylene Company (APPC) is a joint stock company in Saudi Arabia, integrated Propane Dehydrogenation and Polypropylene complex in Jubail Industrial City. Once the project is completed, it will produce 450,000 tones per annum of polypropylene. The company will utilize proven technologies provided by ABB Lummus and Novolen Technology Holdings (NTH).

Job responsibility during detail Engineering:
Engineering:
A) Provide all required data to PMC, building contractor such as equipment, furniture layout, required utilities (electrical consumption for equipment, required gasses for equipment in the lab and its specification.)
B) Preparation of a complete list for all equipments which are required in PP, PDH and water laboratory including their brand name, model number, minimum detection limit, operating range, any other specification for that equipments base on licensee recommendations and my experience.
C) Preparation of a complete list for all chemicals including their optimum quantity for one year which required in PP, PDH and water lab.
D) Preparation of a complete list for all consumables which required in PP, PDH and water lab.
E) Preparation of a complete list for all PP additives calibration standards and its concentration for calibration of lab equipment like XRF, FTIR, HPLC, etc.
F) Collection of data from contractors and other department regarding utilities and their specifications inside lab building
G) Define requirements for LIMS, confirm it with IT dept and contractor
H) Define responsibility matrix between suppliers / vendors and my company
I) Communicate and coordinate with PMC, lab building contractor and equipment supplier about laboratory drawings, engineering and procurement.
J) Working as member in plant documentation review committee.

Procurements:
K) Communicate with vendors, bidders and equipment manufacturers and provide them required information.
L) Evaluate technical proposal received from suppliers.
M) Recommend and help the management on deciding right supplier.

Recruitment:
N) Prepared job description (HAY System) for each position in Laboratory Organization.
O) Conducted interviews for lab staff in KSA and abroad.
P) Developed training program for new employee.
Q) Provide on job training to new lab employee.

Commissioning:
R) Commissioned all lab equipment in Polymer lab, developed NTH application on that equipment.
S) Developed test methods using NTH methods or ISO/ASTM reference methods.

ISO:
T) Prepared laboratory dept quality manual.
U) SOPs for all lab tests methods.
V) Calibration procedure for all equipment.

General:
W) Preparing laboratory annual budget.

LIMS: Implementing LIMS ( Labware ) project as administrator for APPC ( 90% completed). Before that I was working as power user in SABIC LAB
In APPC I am working as SAP ERP power user for QM module.

1) Saudi European petrochemical company, Jubail, KSA, - Sept 1998 to June 30th 2006

M/S Saudi European petrochemical company, ( IBN ZAHR ), as a lab shift supervisor. Ibn Zahr is a giant petrochemical industry and one of the SABIC affiliate at Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia. It is manufacturer of polypropylene ( 600 KTPA ) and largest producer of MTBE in the world ( 40 MMTPA ).

In Ibn Zahr I stared my carrier as lab analyst, then I worked as day analyst and presently I am working as lab shift supervisor.
NATURE OF JOB:
Supervisor - I am responsible for following activities a) Leading the lab activities as per Dept. procedure b) Analysis of finished product from PP and MTBE plant and issue certificate for it c) Analysis of special samples of PP and MTBE plant to assist the production during shut down, start up, or in abnormal situation.
d) Statistical Data Analysis to find Product Performance and Plant Performance.
e) Customer Complain sample analysis f) Arrange and utilized manpower as per job requirement g) Categorized the type of the samples and distribute them to the concerned analysts h) Evaluate the analysis results and ensure its authenticity i) Choose the best alternative analytical method for confirmation of any abnormal results j) Communicate and coordinate with production or other departments k) Carry out analysis of shipments preload samples from harbor and issue certificate for it l) Evaluate the shift analysts for the yearly appraisal m) Replace consumable for analytical equipments when necessary n) Inform to concern person about abnormality of instruments or SPC chart o) Inform to concern person about shortage of chemicals, reagents and consumable spare parts p) Train the lab analyst on the new equipment, or new method and work instruction q) Arrange shift schedule as per requirements r) Arrange proper disposal of waste chemicals, residual samples, polymer waste generated in lab s) Observed and implement Quality, safety, health and environment policy and regulations which is set by Sabic and other authorities t) Identify and recommend improvements in work activity to improve quality and reliability of laboratory u) Develop and maintain, effective and productive working relation ship between collogues and shift members.
v) General laboratory administration etc.

Day analyst, shift analyst - I was responsible for a) Conducting calibrations and preventing maintenance of most of the laboratory instruments b) Troubleshooting of lab equipments c) Process sample analysis from MTBE plant which includes all kinds gasses and liquid samples on gas chromatograph d) Process liquid samples for moisture analysis from MTBE plant e) Gasses samples from utility on GC
f) Analysis of reactor resin and extruder sample for rheological and mechanical properties form PP plant g) My activity also includes analysis of plastic additives, row material testing h) Run statistical process control sample for all Instruments, i) Analysis of round robin samples to find out and reduce the variation in results j) Retain the process samples which is necessary and all finished product samples in storage k) Dispose the remaining liquid samples in the proper container in lab l) Communicate with production as a focal point of lab for data transfer m) Record and enter all results in LIMS or SAP R 3
n) Pass on all information to the shift supervisor about abnormality of results or equipments.
o) Assist shift supervisor in decision making

I am familiar with ISO 9002, ISO 14001, ISO 17025, EMS, TQM and SAFETY STANDARDS of BRITISH SAFETY COUNCIL.
In IBN ZAHR I had used Oracle based Material Management System for purpose of recording results and reporting to the plant, which is now replaced by SAP R/3 and LIMS.

Instruments handled during my tenure which are necessary for carrying out the physical, mechanical and rheological properties for Polymer are as follows:

a) Melt indexer ( TINIUS OLSEN MP600/993, Thermo, Ceast )
b) X-Ray fluorescence spectrometer ( BRUKER, PHILIPS PW 1400, PW 2400, ARL ADVANT XP- Sequential XRF- THERMO ELECTRON CORP).
c) FTIR ( Nicolet 550/670/6700) with Omnic software d) NMR MQ20 ( BRUKER-Germany)
e) Cast film extruder ( OCS ME20/2800 V3/FSA 100, BITOL )
f) Tensile tester ( INSTRON )
g) Injection molding machine (BOY/ ARBURG)
h) Izod impact tester ( CEAST / RAY RAN )
i) Filterability extruder ( BITOL )
j) HDT-Vicat tester (ATS FAR )

2) SUPREME PETROCHEM LTD. ( SPL ), BOMBAY, INDIA. ---June 1994 to Sept 1998.

SPL is the big petrochemical plant collaborated with HUNTSMAN CHEMICAL CORPORATION – USA. Its main product is POLYSTYRENE. I was actively involved in commissioning of QC/QA laboratory of SPL and related activities.
I was responsible for testing of row materials like styrene monomer, mineral oil, poly butadiene rubber, etc. in addition of normal process samples and finished product.
Instruments handled during my tenure are as follows:
