SonaHess is a Joint Venture between two international oil and gas exploration and production companies (Sonatrach & Hess). This association have been created in November 2000 to operate in the oil field of GEA.

Duties included:
* Assist the day-to-day running of the IT Support team:
o Oversee and provide user support & helpdesk for all GEA sites o Supervision of external scopes of work provided by contractors and service providers o Contribute in elaborating scope of works of new projects (ex. telemetry) & evaluating technical bids o Support of all desktop computing (hardware, software, and all computing peripherals)
o Maintain equipment sparing and installation of consumables to appropriate levels o Deploying patches, updates and service packs and other software as required

* WAN/LAN Administration o Administration of a wireless WAN with Cisco equipments:
 Configuring Bridges & Access Points: BR340/350, AP340/350/1200, BR/AP1300
 Setting up & orientation of Dish & Yagi Cisco antennas (especially for Rigs move)
o Administration LANS (Windows 2000, XP)
o Providing support for the implementation of new LAN/WAN infrastructure and migration of systems (servers, pc's etc) to a new environment (relocation to new office)
o Administration of user accounts (Exchange)
o Maintain site documentation for any installs, moves or changes of equipment or systems at each site

* Radio and Satellite communications o Supervising the moving of VSAT and communications equipment during all rig moves in GEA
o Ensuring all sites have 24 hours voice and data connectivity o HF and VHF radio communication support

2001-Aug2004: SCADA ENGINEER SONATRACH, Hassi Messaoud, ALGERIA (28/21 day rotation)
SONATRACH is the Algerian oil and gas exploration and production company. I operated at the Telemetry Department where I was in charge of the maintenance of the SCADA system.

Duties included:
* Installation, configuration & diagnosis all SCADA equipments on site, such as:
 Calibrating Sensors with HART protocol HHT;
 Local diagnosis & configuration of the different parts of the RTU including:
o CPU & I/O cards;
o Power supply o Intrinsic safety (Zener barriers)
o Radio transmission o Photovoltaic power supply
* Radio propagation analysis (site survey) including:
 Determination the topographic coordinates
 Determination of the radio-characteristics of the transmission material
 Calculation of propagation parameters and antenna mats heights (Fresnel zone)
* Configuration of the SCADA MTU data base including:
 System database Generation;
 System database Configuration;
 HMI interface Configuration;
 Archives Configuration.
* Costs study of new SCADA equipments installation.

In addition to these tasks, I was in charge of a project using the SCADA system for the modeling and optimization of the pipeline network of Hassi Messaoud oil field.

I was preparing the National Post-Graduate Diploma in Industrial Electronics "Master" with a research project on a SCADA system installed in the Hassi Messaoud oil field.

I operated at the Telecoms. Department where I was preparing my Studies end project in order to obtain the National Engineer Diploma in Electronics (telecoms. speciality). The project was about the study and design of an interface in order to replace the PDP11/34a mini-computer with a PC for the Hassi R'Mel gas field SCADA system.
