Problems on all wells included 60% H2S, up to 1800 kg/m3 formation pressures, asphaltic deposition, severe corrosion, dual string completions, and multiple fishing and milling jobs. Operations included coiled tubing cleanouts (including with slimhole motors), directional drilling, liner cementing, running tieback strings, chemically and explosively cutting tubing, xylene and acid stimulations, perforating, servicing downhole safety valves, and production logging. All fishing tools were operator-owned and all fishing operations were directed by the Superintendent. Also, directed the drilling of 6 wells with a jackup rig, including one off-platform exploration well and a long-reach horizontal well with 3000 m displacement.
FRONTIER ENGINEERING, Aug. 1989 to Aug. 1990
