PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Reservoir Engineering Consultant 2007
SIS Department, Schlumberger Canada Limited, Calgary, Canada

Main task: Conducted gas storage project modeling and simulation.
* Conducted PVT analyses, EOS Thermodynamic calculation for the use of compositional simulation model
* Established gas storage models using ECLIPSE300, a compositional simulator.
* Simulated gas injection and withdrawal performance.
* Forecasted composition variation in the gas storage reservoir and the production stream.
* Simulated condensate dropout in the reservoir, surface and near well-bore area to research its impact on well injectivity and/or productivity.

Chief Reservoir Engineer 2004 – 2006
Technical Department of Bohai Bay Branch, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), China

* Responsible for the reservoir research and management for all of the existing oil and gas fields in Bohai Bay (twenty oil fields and three gas fields). One of my responsibilities was to monitor production rate changes and found out the decline reasons. Then, developed workover, stimulation, recompletion and infill drilling plans to maintain the field production rate. Make sure the annually total production assignment was accomplished.
* Provided instruction and made decision of infill drilling and field depletion strategy modification to improve oil recovery. The main methods were to employ pattern changes to divert the main stream line direction and using horizontal or multilateral well to recover the residual oil in less waterflooded layers or zones. Nearly 4 million barrels of incremental oil was obtained annually.
* Provided recommendation for small oil and gas field jointed development. There are over 50 small discovered fields and potential targets through Bohai Bay. My task was to appraise these targets and formulate an overall plan connecting them to their closest existing platform employing non-maned small platforms or long deviation wells (not exceed 5 kilometers). These small fields have become one of the major components of the incremental oil in Bohai Bay in the next five to ten years. In 2005, two small potential targets were first drilled employing long deviated well techniques and one small non-maned platform was constructed.
* Instructed and trained other reservoir engineers in classic reservoir engineering, dynamic modeling, simulation and integrated field performance analyses.
* Instructed and trained reservoir engineer for development and performance analysis for carbonate reservoir with bottom water drive.
* Proposed 3D seismic survey in two oil fields and one gas field. My responsibility was to screen fields and come up with seismic resolution demands according to depletion strategy modification needs.

Senior Reservoir Engineer 2001 – 2003
Bohai Bay Branch of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), China

* Worked closely with geologists, geophysicists, offshore/onshore facility and subsea pipeline engineers to formulate two multi-pools developing plans.
* Conducted successfully field strategy modification for 3 gas and oil fields.
-- Conducted integrated performance analysis to recognize reservoir displacement efficiency from production/injection measurement, monitor well information, tracer testing result, interpreted production and open-hole logs and core data.
-- Integrated geological information to build reservoir simulation models and conducted history matching, production prediction, pattern modification, infill drilling program and commercial feasibility evaluation.
-- Increased field production rate by 20-30% (30,000 m3 in the first year) and ultimate oil recovery were estimated to be improved by 5-10%.
* Carried out two new field development plans as a lead reservoir engineer including reservoir modeling, simulation and development optimization.
* Evaluated and implemented pilot test polymer flooding in two offshore oil fields.

Reservoir Engineer 1994 – 2000
Bohai Bay Branch of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), China

* Programmed and managed water injection/production profile conformance control for over fifty wells. Successfully increased the oil production rate of single well or pattern and decreased the water production by 5-20% in five fields.
* Applied pulse/periodical injection to improve the volumetric sweep efficiency in two mature water-flooded fields. Over 100,000 barrels of incremental oil were gained annually for each field without extra operation cost.
* Conducted integrated performance analyses on five oil and gas fields.
-- Evaluated water-flooding performance and blocked the watered-out zones.
-- Assessed residual oil situation for infill drilling.
* Diagnosed abnormal production wells and designed remedies.
* Integrated well behavior, transient pressure test, well performance/nodal and decline curve analyses as well as pumping system diagnosis to provide workover, stimulation and water control proposals.
* Programmed well-node analysis and coded reservoir material balance equation routine for other users.
* Developed water coning forecast methods for the determination of well critical rate and/or drawdown.
* Experience with data management:
-- Checked the integrity and quality of data from daily production measurements.
-- Input data into production database and generated graphs and tables for the use of reservoir performance analyses and reports.
-- Retrieved data from database to generate forms for work-over design.
