Introduction
It is my honour to forward my CV for Fire & Safety Officer Position in Oil & Gas Project or Offshore or any other project anywhere in the Middle East or in the World.
Presently I am employed at Chevron-Nigeria and seconded to Sasol in South Africa as an Emergency Response Advisor, instructing OPITO fire-training courses to the oil and gas industry. I am responsible for onshore / offshore installation emergency response. This includes spill control and countermeasures and effluent monitoring from produced water as required by the regulations.
I have worked with many nationalities from around the world but mainly from America and Britain where I have participated in fire protection in design of new platforms and Major installation of the Gas to Liquid train. I have also made recommendations on some bioremediations program for oil impacted environment to enhance rehabilitation.
My cross posting to Sasol and the plan to implement the GTL projects in two OPEC countries: Nigeria and Qatar is an advantage to me in terms of technology transfer, I have been working with Sasol fire officers on the calculation of ignitable mixtures relative to gas cloud and quenching distance for various LPG. Both projects have a similar design capacity of 34 Mbpd.4

1985 – to 2005 - (Chevron Petroleum Co-Nigeria).
Fire Chief – Terminal

Reporting to the HES Superintendent and based in Escravos tank farm, the Superintendent is responsible for the existing HES performance, development of incident free cultures and safe operations activities in Chevron tank farm. Specifically he is required to manage the resources and human capital necessary to create and lead in operational excellence within the SBU and which will meet and exceed the corporate "Zero incident business targets" (ZIBT) and other corporate business targets.

The Nigerian SBU is a rapidly growing company of a US based Corporation. It is heavily involved in exploration activities and is the operator of several blocks in Nigeria including the highly successful Agbami off-shore field. It also has interests in a number of other blocks. There is also very significant and large scale Project and Development work being undertaken in the area of gas to liquid with the potential to stop gas flaring. More than 70 expatriate positions are sanctioned under the existing Government approved Manpower Plan together with a large and growing number of Nigerian National permanent and contract employees. The main challenges are to produce crude oil, sustain the environment, including profitable growth

The HES Supervisor Emergency Response duties cover all aspects of managing Fire department operations, Oil spill division and waste management programs. Maintaining a highly motivated cross-disciplined multi-national team and implementing systems and processes that will deliver the anticipated contingencies to exploration success

An important aspect of his role is to recognize, promote and develop SOPs and interpret the requirements of codes and practices as required by law. Other principal accountabilities include:

* Provides fire protection guidance to Company employees and line supervisors. Interprets and develops guidance on regulations and laws. Develops data and prepares fire protection reports and studies.
* Represents Company with outside organizations relating to fire response and control and serves as a member on related industrial committees. Conducts fire loss prevention surveys and reviews design of new facilities for plant additions or single plant projects.

This has improved proficiency and reduced response times in actual emergency. Established BPA with international fire equipment supplier, resulting in 10% savings on all purchases of fire equipment hardware
* Supervised, (50) full time fire fighters, (10) oil spill/Environmental control staff.
* Developed, a hiring and career development plan, for the fire department staff, enhancing proficiency and effective fire coverage in Chevron Nigeria
* Annual agility test for firefighters, with medical expert for physical fitness program
* Established a flow test program, for determination of pressure zones' performance and the discharge output of the fire pumps
* Established mutual assistance scheme, enabling a re-enforcement of personnel, and fire apparatus to be mobilized for support during a big tank fire this increased the availability of manpower and equipment.
* Established "permit to work systems, for General work, General hot work, and daily hot work permits, this allowed flexibility of structural repairs, to be carried out on process units
* Categorized occupancies within the scope of LH, XLH & XHH factors for the protection of sprinklers and coverage areas, -British standards specification. Developed fire philosophy for the control and extinguishment of a tank fire- A guide for fire department's operations
* Co-opted Projects, to reduce surface temperatures on Exhausts of booster pumps, generators and turbines
* Coordinated regulatory agencies, visitation to terminal and inspection of facility also investigated fire accidents using fault tree methods.
* Advise line management on pollution control and oil spill counter measures. This has reduced the incidence of oil spill on facility.
* Developed waste management program, for different waste streams, in the company. Improved awareness of company workers and contractors on methods of disposal of cumulative waste from facility
* Reduced incidence of Hydrogen-sulfide -Made consultations on multi gas detectors and developed SOP for process operators

Major achievement was the safety management of Construction and Commissioning of Offshore-D -Gas Recycling, in accordance with API 14 RC. Without Zero incident through out the life of the project and also implemented the fire protection procedures and contingency plans for the various project segment.

Fire Protection Officer – Operations

A Municipal Officer, with the responsibility, of managing a fire department, I have jurisdiction and legal backing for the implementation of fire prevention and firefighting. This position reports to the Director of Fire & Rescue Services in Nigeria. Some of the major responsibilities were:

* Trained recruit firemen in fire prevention, fire protection, fire fighting, and rescue operations.
