He has worked as an employee and a consultant for major and independent oil and gas companies. He has performed both operations and engineering duties and is proficient in conducting reservoir studies, property evaluations, drilling and completion of wells, production optimization, equipment design and construction, and the installation and operation of secondary recovery projects. He has also built and staffed two offices and trained and directed numerous staff.

Experience

2007 – Present
Robert G. Setzler
Sr. Petroleum Engineer

2006 - 2007
Pogo Production Company
Materials and Supply Manager
Responsible for the acquisition of the necessary surface equipment for the construction of 63 new oil and gas batteries, 51 artificial lift systems, SWD batteries, injection plants, de-highs, inline heaters, gas-processing packages, and everything required for secondary recovery operations.

2004 - 2006
Latigo Petroleum, Inc.
Senior Reservoir Engineer
Conducted economic evaluation of prospective wells and properties throughout West Texas and New Mexico. Formations included Yates-Seven Rivers, Grayburg, San Andres, Queen, Clearfork, Bone Springs, Wolfcamp, Atoka, Morrow, Fusselman, Montoya, and Ellenberger.

Responsible for the evaluation and development of the Collie field in the Delaware Formation. The primary objective was the Delaware sand with secondary targets in the Cherry Canyon and Brushy Canyon Formations. The aerial extent of the project consisted of 16 sections with an estimated recoverable reserves of 22.6 MMBO and 6.5 BCF of gas. An estimated 6.6% of the OOIP will be from primary production and 10% will come from secondary operations. An analysis of surrounding production shows that the Monroe, Ford Geraldine, and Two-Freds sands have been successfully waterflooded. Planned downspacing from 80 acres to 20 acres.

1994 - 2004
Saga Petroleum
Reservoir and Operations Engineer
Performed formal reservoir studies for every major property owned by Saga. These studies included the calculation of ultimate reserves for both oil and gas properties. Modeled properties' secondary performance and projected production capabilities including the effect of increased well density, injection of water and down spacing while maintaining maximum production from all wells. Developed Excel programs to perform reservoir performance simulations. Performed detailed log analysis for the calculation of potential reserves from each prospective zone. Recommended chemical programs to control corrosion and scale and made recommendations to improve the performance of equipment installations and bring projects into environmental compliance. Completed a waterflood review in the Snyder and Itian East Howard Fields in Mitchell County, Texas. Sufficient well, reservoir, core, fluid or quality log data were not available in order to perform a formal study for these two fields. Nevertheless, all available data on all offset secondary floods in the area was gathered and reviewed.

Other waterfloods worked while at Saga included the South Cowden and the Corbin Queen Unit.

The South Cowden consisted of several mature waterfloods. No information on the Grayburg reservoir rock or fluid properties was available. Reservoir calculations were based on waterflood performance. Production data was obtained from the RRC. A history match of the secondary performance for each curve was calculated. Due to the low perm and porosity nature of the Grayburg reservoir, it was recommended that well spacing be downsized from 20 acres to 10 acres.

The Corbin Queen Unit was a two section Queen waterflood, which was developed on 80 acre waterflood patterns. Conducted economic analysis proving feasibility of 40 acre patterns. Performed a history match on each 80 acre producing well.

1989 - 1994
Alta Energy
Consulting New Mexico Operations Manager
Consultant for a 30-well drilling project for AVON Project located at Loco Hills, New Mexico. Supervised the running of two drilling rigs and four completion units. Tasked with drilling and completing 30 wells in 90 days. This program increased production from 100 BOPD to over 2000 BOPD and gas from 200 MCFD to 4000 MCFD.

Avon Project Manager
Supervised activities for Socorro Energy, an Alta Energy subsidiary. Gained 262 wells, drilled, and completed an additional 30 wells. Brought two failing waterfloods back into operation which included working over an additional 35 injection wells and 165 producing wells. Reserve recovery on the wells increased from 15,000 BO to 150,000 BO per well.

1987 - 1989
Axem Resources; McClure Oil; Anschutz
Consultant/Drilling and Production Supervisor
Acted as drilling and production supervisor for numerous independents. Supervised the drilling operations and construction of surface facilities. Also conducted numerous property evaluations and reservoir studies including Penwell (Ellenberger) and Five Point (San Andres) fields.

1984 - 1987
MGF Oil Company
Operations Manager
Directed engineering operations for both Midland & Gulf Coast districts. Increased oil and gas production and decreased operating cost while the company was under Chapter 11 guidelines.

1977 - 1983
JM Huber Corporation, Midland, TX
District Production Manager
Managed engineering and field staff of 18 employees and a $7.5 million capital budget. Initial responsibility was to P&A all remaining Midland district wells. Performed analysis to identify bypassed reserves and potential pay zones. Of the fifty-two oil and gas wells that JM Huber had, all were returned to production. Total production increased from 125 BOPD and 131 MCFD to over 2,000 BOPD and 4,000 MCFD.

Studied the Morton (Wolfcamp) reservoir, which consists of ten separate pay zones. The bottom six Wolfcamp zones were very prolific energized with a water drive mechanism. The top four zones were gas drive. Developed a structure map depicting the top Wolfcamp pay interval, which indicated hydrocarbon accumulation east of the existing wells. Prepared a drilling program, which resulted in the successful completion of seven additional wells having EUR ranging from 500,000 BO to 1,000,000 BO per well and daily production rates ranging from 500 BOPD to 750 BOPD.

1961 - 1977
Texaco, Inc.
Assistant District Engineer
Responsible for the production and forecast budget. Trained and mentored young engineers and closely monitored production to make appropriate recommendations to keep production stable.

Division Civil Engineer
Designed and constructed numerous waterflood projects, compressor stations, oil storage facilities and field offices.

District & Division Reservoir Engineer
Tasked with optimizing the Spraberry West Deep unit. Primary target was the Spraberry West Deep anticline section, which was very prolific. Utilized all necessary core, production, pressure, and PVT data available in order to perform a formal reservoir study. Determined OOIP from reservoir pressure and cumulative production from a Tarner Material Balance calculation. Used a modified Dykstra Parson method to predict secondary recovery. Primary production resulted in 751,000 BO or 15% of OOIP. Secondary production will be 1,100,000 BO or 20% of OOIP for a total recovery of 1,752,000 BO or 35% of OOIP. A secondary to primary ratio of 1.33 indicated an excellent waterflood candidate.

Cogdell Canyon Reef Unit, Production Engineer
Unit production was initially 45,000 BOPD. Tasked with increasing production to 75,000 BOPD. Increased injection by 60,000 BOPD and installed submersible pumps to achieve objective. First pump installed produced 2,000 BOPD for a twelve month total of 1,000,000 BO. Ultimately installed twenty two submersible pumps and achieved production target.

Development Engineer, Midland, TX
Worked with three Geologists on generating prospects. Evaluated each prospect and made recommendations to management for drilling candidates based on their economic viability in accordance with Texaco's guidelines.

District Equipment Engineer, Midland, TX
In charge of all major equipment projects. Major construction responsibility including equipment specs, bids, meeting time line constraints and cost control. Maintained actual cost to within 5% of estimated cost.
