* Troubleshot and rectified any minor engineering defects onboard the naval support ship that was within my personal capabilities.

* Worked closely with the ships' engineers in analysing the various faults on the generators or propulsion engines in order to derive solutions to problems.

* Tasked to sail for long deployments with the naval support ship to assess progress of trainee engineers.

* Compiled the pre-sea checklists for all 4 naval support vessels after much discussion with the ships' Chief Engineer, and came up with a standardised pre-sea checklist format that would be suitable for all naval ships.

* Assigned to assist the Squadron Engineering Officer in ship redcon assessment

* Responsible in carrying out inspection and system checks on the capability of the equipments onboard so as to ascertain whether they were operationally ready and assisted in the conducting of the fire-fighting and damage control exercises.

* Co-ordinated with the Training Branch and Institute of Maritime and Operations Systems in the assessment of On-The-Job (OJT's). Conducted weekly assessments with the OJT's to get a better overall understanding of their progress and to better facilitate their training.

* Created a master defect database initiated by the Squadron Chief Engineer. The creation of the database was a tedious task as I had to track back a detailed pool of past history through the EMMIS system. After going through all the relevant information with a fine-toothed comb, the history of defects was collated. I then had to update the master defect database with the information provided by the ships' Report of Proceeding (ROP) on a monthly basis.

* I took charge of the mechanical defects trending for the engineering department and monitored the frequencies and regularities of the various defects that occurred onboard all 4 naval support ships. Regular updates were then provided to ensure that the engineers could take better preventive measures which would ultimately lead to the prolonged lifespan of the equipments.
