Recruited to MPM Company to design and install a new Induction Heat treatment of camshaft for GM Saturn and Tonawanda.
Responsibilities& Expertise in the Following Areas:
Development of Induction Hardening Process of G M Spring Hill (Saturn) and Tonawanda L-850 ungrounded Exhaust & Intake.Camshaft.DOE and PPAP Process Development, Developed new partial quenching process for nodular cast iron Camshaft which will give 5 times more life to part and no cracking problem. Run DOE (Design of Experiments) & PPAP of L-5 (Phaser) Camshaft, 9th Lobe Camshaft & L-850 Camshaft Induction hardening process for G M Tonawanda and G M Springhill, Saturn Plant. Working with Production and Quality issue. Help manufacturing department for incoming Material and out going Production Quality Problems. Maintain Metallurgical Lab and all supply and equipments. Preparation of sample for Microstructure analysis, Rockwell, Brinell, Superficial, Micro, Vickers, Knoop hardness check for quality and production department. Working with material hardness, quenching, machining issue with customers as well as suppliers. Generate detail metallurgical report to solve problem with customers and suppliers. All type of Non- destructive and destructive testing for materials. Also help our Manufacturing department and Maintenance department to select proper material, coolant and tool insert for longer life and more production output and maintain induction-hardening equipment and walk-in temper oven to obtain maximum production. Evaluation of microstructures, Cutting, Mounting, Polishing, Failure Analysis, Report Writing, Metallurgical Evaluation of all ferrous and non ferrous material.
Responsible for setting up Master Processes, providing Metallurgical reports and PPAP documents per customer requirements, trouble shooting/solving process issues, maintaining calibration and testing schedules, purchasing lab equipments and supplies, support production and shipping requirements using lab technicians. Supervise and direct the activities of all personnel in the quality control/assurance function according to prescribed policies and practices, maintaining and insuring effective communication within the department and throughout the Company.
* Design and implementation of Induction Heat treatment.
* Develop and implement quality standards, policies and procedures as required to meet customer requirements.
* Ensures the quality of all products is maintained through investigation and testing.
* Accompanies other personnel as required to various customers and vendor sites to ensure quality requirements are maintained.
* Evaluates, summarizes and reports on all audits, internal and external.
* Troubleshoot problems in the quality area. Make recommendations concerning the design, manufacture, and processing or other changes to accomplish quality objectives.
* Supervise quality inspectors, conducting complex testing as required.
* Work with customers to establish guidelines and to aid in the decisions involving materials, specifications, processing, etc.
* Design and develop testing methods, heat treating processing, and procedures as needed for product evaluation.
* Maintain tracking systems on all quality corrective actions and product quality history.
* Develop control plans, failure mode effects analysis, flow diagrams, etc.
* Conduct feasibility meetings when applicable to ensure all critical characteristics and defined prior to production runs.
* Provides changes, updates and revisions to the Laboratory Quality Manual. Reviews the entire manual at least once a year and ensures all manuals are current.
* Acquires and maintains technical standards and specifications.
* Maintain calibration schedules of lab equipment; quench oil testing and uniformity survey of all furnaces.
* Maintain and record non-conforming products.
* Set up Master process using customer drawings and specifications.
* Interacts with all lab techs, VPO, Plant Mangers, Mgr of Quality Assurance/Metallurgy, Quality Coordinator, VP Sales, and Shift Managers.Verbal interaction with management, QC technicians, and production workers.
