EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE IN THE FOLLOWING FIELDS:
* Heat Treatments and Physical Metallurgy.
- Structures & Properties of Materials
- Phase Transformation & Kinetics
* Corrosion and its Protection.
- Electrochemical Polarization Studies( both AC & DC)
- Pitting/Passivity evaluation
- Cathodic Protection and Pipeline corrosion.
- Scanning Reference Electrode Studies (SRET) for Localised Corrosion, welding and Coatings.
RESEARCH INTEREST:
My research focuses on fundamental understanding of the corrosion and corrosion inhibition of metals and alloys, with particular emphasis on ferrous alloys in different heat treated conditions in acidic, marine or aqueous solutions. The studies mainly involve applying electrochemical (both dc and ac) and a number of surface analysis techniques (SEM, XRD, XPS) to characterize and elucidate the mode of interaction between the metal surface and the passivating species (e.g. oxides, inhibitors or coatings).
INSTRUMENT HANDLED FOR PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF METAL:
1. Muffle Furnace for Annealing
2. Hardness, Impact and Tensile Testing Machine
3. Optical and Electron Microscope
4. Image Analyzer.
INSTRUMENT HANDLED FOR CORROSION MEASUREMENT:
1. Gamry Instruments version 4.21.
2. Princeton Applied Research Potentiostat/ Galvanostat and SRET.
3. EG & G Potentiostat/Galvanostat.
