Written the Compressor Station section on DBM. Studied the flow and pressure pattern of offshore gas wells for 20 years of project life. Recommended optimization plan for the compressor station including sizing, pros-n-cons for GT drive vs. Motor drive.

InterPipeline Orion Pump Station Optimisation, Alberta, Canada 2008
DBM for upgrading an existing blended bitumen pump station from present 26,000bpd to 40,000 and 60,000bpd with minimum impact.

Enbridge Patoka 1.2 MM BBLS capacity storage terminal, Illinois, US 2007
Class 3 cost estimate for mechanical equipments including 1250 HP vertical can booster pumps, 250 HP diesel firewater pump, etc.

Saudi Aramco Shaybah Pipeline Pump Station?1, KSA 2005
As Mechanical Lead of the project, completed 75% FEED package in 10 weeks. The desert pump station was designed to pump 1000MBPD crude oil through a 480km pipeline.
- Studied economics of using Electric motor, Gas Turbine and Diesel Engine as pump driver at remote location.
- Mechanical equipments included 2MVA CGT Generator (SOLAR Centaur), Instrument Air Compressors package (COPCO), Fire-fighting systems and equipments.
- Prepared mechanical section of LSTK contract. Administrative duties included work like budgeting, progress reporting, man-hour control, quality check, etc.

REFINERY & UPGRADERS

CCRL 130000bpd Refinery Expansion, Regina, SK, Canada 2008
The UOP licensed grass roots refinery includes a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) complex. Designed all pumps for dual duty which currently will run for 70% production level, but can be enhanced for 100% production within a 3-week turnaround. About 40 pump services include Tower Bottoms Slurry Pump with ST drive. From study and client presentation to RFQ and bid evaluation was completed in 4 months.

TOTAL 295,000bpd Bitumen Upgrader, Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Canada 2007
Delivered preliminary cost estimation of the $9 billion plant and helped Project team in evaluation various process options.

Sunoco Toledo Refinery Upgrade, Ohio, USA 2007
Re-rate of 10MW compressor with Steam Turbine driver. The existing equipment was jointly inspected with Elliott. Shortlisted modifications required in rotor, seal and condition monitoring instruments.

Shell 100,000bpd Upgrader, Carmen Creek, Peace River, AB, Canada 2006
Implemented various DEP-specs issued by Shell Global Solutions regarding selection of pumps for. Issued supplements to ISO13709/API610/ANSIB73 which was approved by Shell Canada.

Opti Canada Orcrude, Gasifier & Hydrocracker, Long Lake, AB, Canada 2004
Responsible for engineering, procurement, review and comissioning of many API 610 pumping units with its seal and lube systems. Total 44 services amounted to 16,500 installed HP.
Most challenging services were:
- Between-bearing (BB2) pumps of 1800hp.
- Reciprocating water injection pumps for hydrocracker developing 203-bar pressure.
- Jacketed 380øC molten Bitumen pump.
- Plant-54 system.
- 3000hp steam turbine driven BB3 boiler feed pumps
Saved project cost by establishing advantages of ?non-grout? baseplates in north Alberta. Project actually saved in $ millions on reduced labor cost, tents, heating and cost of grout etc.
Shutoff head and minimum flow optimized to bring down pipe ratings from 1500# to 900#. This was a huge cost saver.
Recommended bypass line was added on suction side with PRV to save the seals from high pressure at static condition. This improved the seal life.
Identified requirement of minimum straight run of suction piping based on suction energy condition. This superseded the standard rule of 5D and saved piping cost.
Coordinated with Flowserve, CPC Pumps, Union pumps, John Crane, Coppus & Lube-Power. Witnessed performance and strip test of the pumps in Pompe Guinard, France.
Helped process write Operation Procedure based on Hazop recommendations.

Korea National Oil Blackgold 30000bpd SAGD Project, Alberta, Canada 2008
In-house sizing and class-3 cost estimate of all compressors, centrifugal and progressive cavity pumps. Developed overlay specifications for API674, API610 and ANSI B73.2, data sheets and sparing philosophy. Delivered +/-20% estimation and IFD data sheets within 8 weeks of P&ID review.

Recommended Lobe Blower, Magdrive Scrubber pumps, and API675 metering pumps for an environmentally sensitive odour control project.

Replaced Pads Pump with larger Flowserve Pumps fitted with plan-53C, VFD.

RFQ, ordering, drawing approval and data book review for HP & LP Boiler Feed Pumps from Sulzer MSD (BB3) range.

Saudi Aramco Shaybah GOSP-4 and Power Island, KSA 2005
As Mechanical Lead, prepared specification and data sheets of a range of equipments for a captive power plant. Major item was 120MW (ISO rating) Single-cycle Gas Turbine with its Fuel system, Fire & wash water system, Hydraulic start system, Air inlet, Lubrication skid.
Worked closely with GE, Siemens, Solar, Ahlstom and Mitsubishi during technical development of the specifications as well as budget preparation. Answered clients query satisfactorily during a 4-day value-engineering meeting.
Wrote specification and API 616 data sheet.
Drawn up equipment list for 250MB/day Gas Oil Separation Plant
Wrote specification and data sheets of Diesel Engine driven 5MW black-start generator. Reviewed proposals from Wartsila, Hyundai, Caterpillar and Cummins.

Operation design review of all machinery including Acid Gas Compressor, Rich Amine Expander, Reflux & Amine pumps etc. Educated the client on API recommendations and NACE MR0175 as they have little experience with international standards. Wrote plant start-up and emergency shut down process.

Perto-Canada UTS Froth Treatment Demo Plant, Fort Hills, AB, Canada 2005
The project from concept to commissioning was completed in 7 months.
RFQ, Bid evaluation, PO package and drawing review of pumps for high viscosity liquid containing 10% gas as well as large abrasive particle. Equipments included Progressive Cavity pumps, Metal Slurry centrifugal pump and Screw Air Compressors etc. Vendors like Weir, Metso, GIW, Moyno, Seepex & Atlas Copco participated in this project.

As project manager conducted feasibility study on introduction of variable speed VOITH fluid couplings in de-scaling operation of a major steel plant. Project report covered cost estimation, savings in energy, payback and technical feasibility.

As project engineer conducted failure analysis of existing pumps. Recommended change of material to Hi-Chrome white CI (ASTM A532, cla-3) having 650+BHN. Prepared complete project proposal for revamp, pipeline and seal modification.
