Objective: To both enhance and contribute my technical experience in software and enterprise database design and administrator as well as development and work for a company that is consistently seeking qualified personnel to effectively compete in the global market of the 21st century. To provide top-notch leadership abilities that will greatly benefit my employer.
Education:
1991 - 1992 Louisiana Technical College in Lafayette, LA majoring in Microcomputer Specialist curriculum. (AS)
1986 - 1990 University of Louisiana at Lafayette
1980 - 1986 Attended and received high school diploma from Hanson Memorial High School in Franklin, LA.
Work History:
2001 – 2002 Employed with Immedient, Corporation as a Consultant
Duties: Senior Software Consultant - Built web-based reporting utility and portal for Apache Corporation. This solution was developed using Visual Studio.NET Release Candidate. It permitted the users to generate custom reports based off of a tree hierarchy and employed the use of Excel XP Pivot Tables and Office Web Component Spreadsheets. It was built using ASP.NET, Javascript, VBScript and Visual Basic.NET. The underlying database is Oracle 8i.
Added extensive functionality to a customized Visio solution. The application allows the users to develop custom equipment "stencils," allowing even non-technical users to easily drag-and-drop the necessary parts and create stack-up well drawings and equipment lists in a fraction of the time previously required. These drawings constitute a proposal, which can be quickly printed and delivered to the customer. Equipped with this solution on laptops, Schlumberger’s sales staff can now generate proposals in their client's office, print them and present them to the customer in minutes, rather than days or weeks. This adds up to a significant savings in time and expense. Provided the ability to export Visio diagrams to jpg format and email those diagrams to customers.
Assisted in the development and enhancement of an Automated Proposal Generation system for National OilWell. The solution uses Microsoft Word versions 2000 and 2002 running in a Digital Dashboard to create and output new proposals. A full-featured template library provides the users with easy drag-and-drop assembly of every part of the proposal. Once the parts are assembled, users take advantage of the formatting capabilities of Microsoft Word to create attractive, professional documents that can be quickly delivered to the customer resulting in a 300% increase in the number of proposals produced.
1999 – 2001 Employed with BrightStar Information Technology Group, inc. Applications and Database Developer whose duties entailed: design and implementation of back-end and server-side components as well as SQL DBMS Engineering and implementation. All done in VB 6.0.
Duties: Engineered and developed the advanced reporting system and custom reports for a Daily Production Data-Capture system used by Ocean Energy, inc. I also developed upgrades to this system and provided extensive customer support for Ocean’s International, Gulf of Mexico, Lafayette, LA, and Houston, TX users.
Engineered and developed administrative utilities for use with Ocean’s Engineering Information System which is an Intranet browser based application that is used as a dialogue manager by Ocean’s senior management.
Worked on a two-person development team to design and implement an Intranet, ASP based Executive Information System. My primary responsibilities were to ensure proper database design and develop the web based, server-side reports as well as Triggers and Stored Procedures.
Provided Senior System Architect support to BrightStar’s web apps group on various projects with regard to proper SQL Database design and code development, which included Distributed Transactions, COM component development and modeling. I developed ActiveX components in the form of OCX controls, Out of Proc and In-Proc Executables and DLLs.
Created Test Stubs and performed both performance and quality assurance code testing. Also took corrective action when necessary to increase the performance and provide necessary bug fixes.
The reports were based on a combination of Crystal 7.0 (www.seagatesoftware.com) and Data Dynamics Active Reports 1.0 (www.datadynamics.com ).
1996 - 1999 Employed with and currently working for Sola Communications, Inc. While with Sola, I worked as a SCADA Software Engineer.
Duties: Duties at Sola were to design (model) and implement (program) relational databases for use in both OLAP and OLTP implementations.
Primary responsibility was to design Human to Machine Interfaces for various industries such as Industrial Automation and Controls, Energy, Chemical, Water distribution and Wastewater management.
These applications were designed using such development tools as Visual Basic, GE Cimplicity HMI (www.cimplicityhmi.com), WonderWare’s Factory Suite 2000 (www.wonderware.com), Microsoft Access, and Intellution Fix (www.intellution.com ). Each of these development environments (with the exception of Intouch) utilize VBA as their scripting language and all of them support ActiveX. Developed ActiveX components in the form of OCX controls, Out of Proc and In-Proc Executables and DLLs.
Designed quite a few applications that connected to an I/O driver to poll PLC devices and therefore provided me with quite a bit of experience in dealing with proprietary communication protocols and memory register referencing on various vendors’ programmable logic controller devices. Many of these apps logged data to Sybase System 11, Watcom SQL, SQL Server, and Microsoft Access (All Versions from 2.0).
Accomplishments during this time range from the design, development, and commissioning of an Oil and Gas pipeline and Production facility application in Guatemala (written in Spanish) to a Power Monitoring and Management System written for Shell Chemical near Baton Rouge, LA as well as custom reporting solutions for use in Business Intelligence.
The Guatemalan application was comprised of eight separate SQL Servers stationed along the pipeline. The application was written entirely in GE Cimplicity and used replication to move data from each pump station and the production facility to the main headquarters in Guatemala City via satellite. Each of the nodes along the pipeline provided both control and monitoring of pump activity, line pressures and temperatures, etc.
The primary application (located at headquarters) provided the Production Engineer and Transportation Engineer with a global overview of production and activity at each pumping station and the production facility. They are even able to monitor Alarm conditions and the quantity of oil in tanks as well as the amount being pumped into oil tankers near the Belize coastline.
The Shell Chemical Company application was also written entirely in Cimplicity. This application provides Shell with the ability to monitor transformer activity, Power Factor Lead and Lag as well as real-time trending via fiber optic to 100mbit Ethernet. We used GE Series 90-30 PLC devices with redundancy (see: http://www.gefanuc.com/products/controllers). The application was designed to tie into their account billing system (SAP R/3) and I designed it to be easily (user can do it) connected to any ODBC compliant SQL database and even Microsoft Access (Which is what it was logging to at that time).
Most of the reports that these systems used were based in Excel and Microsoft Access. Others used Crystal reports or HMI specific reporting tools.
1996 - 1997 Instructor at Louisiana Technical College in Lafayette, LA. Taught the Microcomputer
Maintenance and Repair course as an evening extension course to working adults.
1994 - 1996 Worked for Manpower Technical division as a contract developer and software trainer. (SkillWare)
Trained more than 250 Halliburton Employees on Microsoft Office Professional.
1992 - 1996 Worked as a computer consultant, General Manager, software developer, and computer network specialist under contractual agreements with Paragon MicroSystems.
Duties: While working as an independent contractor I had the opportunity to build a Microsoft Access and Word based solution that provides the St. Mary Parish Coroner’s office with the tools they need to record and report on fatalities in the Parish. I also had the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of customer relationship management and Project management. Other responsibilities required me to function as a computer network designer and engineer. I have built many Windows for Workgroups, Win9x, NT, Lantastic, and Novell Netware Lite LANS. I also function often times as a PC Support specialist in that I built servers, workstations, and desktop units for customers and provided maintenance and repair as well.
Was responsible for preparing annual budget as well as income taxes. Was in charge of a staff of 6 technology professionals who performed various tasks such as training, programming, PC networking, and consulting.
1990 - 1991 United States Army Delta Company 705th Support Battalion during Operation Desert Storm
Duties: Served as a section sergeant prior to, during and after the Gulf War. I was in charge of my own squad and was directly responsible for their safety and task scheduling.
1986 - 1994 Enlisted and served in the Louisiana Army National Guard as an Armament Equipment Repair Specialist. The job entailed the diagnosis and repair of weapons for the U.S. Army. I was awarded the Louisiana War Cross and the Command Sergeants Major Award of Honor for Outstanding Leadership. The later of the two awards in given to only one soldier out of more than 300 attending the Primary Leadership Develop Course.
