PROJECT CONTROLS

Project controls for capital projects at Alcoa (Point Comfort Operations), a $20 million a year capital program consisting of approximately 25+ projects. Position entailed the setting up of cost control functions, requisitioning materials, and assisting the project managers in planning and execution of proposed projects. Compiled weekly reports to enable Project Managers to examine cost and time schedules. Produced monthly reports that conveyed cost and completion schedules for projects for the Alcoa/Hatch Engineering Alliance. Analyzed variances between reporting entities and recommendations were made to correct or clarify.

Selected Accomplishments

* Assisted in the complete overhaul, design, and implementation of the timekeeping system for the projects in SAP.
* Achieved 100% cohesion on a continuous monthly basis making Point Comfort the only site in the AWA Alliance to successfully implement a system to identify variances in Alcoa's reporting systems.
* Developed procedure to streamline Excel spreadsheets in order to consolidate multiple projects to one spreadsheet for reporting purposes.

PRODUCTION DATA ANALYST

Position consisted of daily monitoring of cost variances and production data in SAP. Identification of items exceeding the deviation tolerances and perform SAP transactions to make appropriate production posting corrections as needed. Work with Technical Advising to identify permanent plant process changes and required master table data updates. Maintained Bills of Materials and Routing table data in SAP and determined appropriate changes. Balanced and reconciled raw material and product inventory discrepancies and made necessary production posting adjustments to correct inventories. On a monthly basis performed inventory management activities and routine month end closing reports following Dow's procedures and business rules. Produced monthly project and maintenance cost budget reports for analysis work by plant personnel. This position was performed at the High Pressure Unit at DOW/Union Carbide Seadrift Plant site.

Selected Accomplishments

* Developed a system of maintaining the production data and monthly closings for further analysis and ensure variances maintained a low deviation.
* A member of the DIAMOND II UCC Systems Integration Project for Polyolefins and PE/PP Catalyst a critical merger of the Union Carbide and Dow Chemical systems to create a uniform recording and reporting of production.
* Attention to detail uncovered demurrage costs for trailers being charged to the High Pressure II unit that were intended for the entire Seadrift site which resulted in approximately $200K in savings per year to the units fixed costs. Ultimately resulted in permanent changes in demurrage costs for the site.
