P6) Educational Qualification: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

7) Experience: More than 25 years in the installation, commissioning, testing, operation and maintenance of electrical, electronic and instrumentation equipments and controls in Processing plants and Drilling Rigs in India and Middle East.
8) Plants to which self associated during construction and afterwards maintenance:
Co-generation, Gas sweetening, Due point depression, LPG recovery,
Fractionization, Sulphur recovery, Product terminal, Cooling towers, Various sub- stations, Water treatment plants, Loading gantry etc.
9) Electrical power and distribution system and major equipments handled:
a) 19.2 MW Gas turbines of GE make (Model # PG 5361-P) and Generators of
Brush make (Model # 193-7 R) and Mark # 4 controls of GE with distributed digital controls and requisite PLC.
b) 66 KV double circuit grid back up from state board with outdoor receiving switch yard, 66/11 KV grid transformers of 25/31 MVA, 66 KV relay and control panels, summation metering etc.
c) 11 KV switchgear and distribution system with synchronization. and 11/0.433
KV transformers of 500 KVA to 1600 KVA.
d) HT/LT drives: HT motors (6.6 KV) of varying capacity from 150 KW to 1700
KW, both synchronous and induction for such applications as residual gas compressors, Air blowers etc; from different manufactures like Siemens,
Jermount, Large machines, Toshiba, Hitachi etc.
e) MOCBs with protection such as IDMT O/C and E/E, directional IDMT O/C, directional EF, UF associated with UV, inverse time O/C with instantaneous
EF, transformer differential, voltage restraint UC etc.
f) UPS, battery banks, battery chargers, 110 DCDB, smoke and fire detectors, cathodic protection, lighting, overhead cranes, office and workshop buildings, centralized air conditioners, cooling appliances etc.

10) Major responsibilities and activities:
a) Associated with turnkey project in detailed discussions to continuously evaluate and improve design parameters and materials with the objective of achieving maximum standardization.
b) Receiving and handling of equipments and materials and assuring quality, local and international statutory requirements and designed rating.
c) Co-ordination with other departments and sub-contractors so as to adhere to the time schedule, thereby reducing delay and cost in the completion of the proposed work and to gather all relevant information for documentation d) Associated with all important testing, calibration, relay co-ordination to ensure power system stability, regulation, reliability and redundancy.
e) Monitoring and reporting of daily progress of overall project implementation.
and having group discussion with various agencies involved, identifying constraints and setting priorities.
f) Planning and deploying in-house man power for round the clock operational requirement and providing required training to them.
g) Evaluated the technical standards, capabilities and the availability of in-house personnel and entrusted the low technology routine maintenance to external agency. Analyzed the local labour market and the frequency of maintenance activities, formulated terms and conditions based on the prevalent rules and standards, tendered, wetted the tender technically and financially and awarded and supervised the all in all maintenance contracts for electrical equipments.
h) Developed preventive maintenance schedule according to the failure analyses,
MTBF etc; and improvements were carried out on a continual basis, formats were prepared for monthly, half yearly and annual maintenance with permit to work, proper locking out and tagging systems.
i) Ensured the availability of consumables and spares and evolved an annual purchasing policy and coordinated with equipment resource group for the availability of critical spares just in time.
j) Planned in advance and mobilized resources and additional manpower for turn-around jobs.
k) Interacted with the condition monitoring group to carry out predictive maintenance based on the recommendations like premature bearing replacement, correcting the balancing of rotating parts, torque level of foundation bolts and permissible tolerances of alignments.
l) Proposed technical modifications and innovations to enhance the reliability and executed the jobs.
11) Placing and promotion history:
a) Joined Oil & Natural corporation of India as Asst. Executive Engr. in 1982, then Exec. Engr. in 1987 and Dy. Supdt. Engr. in 1991, the last being merit promotion superseding 90 such engrs. in the field. Apart from construction, operation and maintenance activities in Hazira Gas Processing Complex,
India, the highest responsibility held was as Area in charge (Elect) for an entire drilling field deployed with 9 rigs.
b) From 1994 onwards with various drilling companies in Middle East as
Preventive maintenance Engr. At rigs worked with Cater pillar Engine controls, GE/CAT/KATO Alternators, Ross-Hill, Hill Grahams, GE etc; AC-
SCR DC drives, VFD with PLC for top Drive, Javelin pipe handling systems,
Intellysis controlled compressors, Scott quadranetic Gas detection system and associated instrumentations.
12) On the job training in inter personnel and technical skills:
a) Maintenance Management by Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, India.
b) Reorientation course by Continuing Education Department, University of
Roorkey, India with specialization on sub-stations and power electronics.
c) Participative Management d) Total Quality Control e) Career Linked Leadership Quality in Management
(The above three programmes by Institute of Management Development,
ONGC, India.)
f) Electrical Safety by National Safety council, India.
