PhD in Geophysics, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, US, 1998
MSc in Geology, Ocean University of China, Qingdao, Shandong, China, 1985
BSc in Geology, Ocean University of China, Qingdao, Shandong, China, 1982
Professional Experiences
12/1997 - Present Schlumberger Data and Consulting Services - Houston, TX
Senior Geoscientist
* Field study: Detailed well-seismic tie for production zones, seismic reservoir characterization to define reservoir parameters through subsurface mapping and seismic attribute vs. well-log property correlation. Establishing/updating the geological/reservoir models for reservoir simulation in field development planning/optimization. Worldwide experiences in different reservoirs (clastic, carbonate and igneous) and structural styles(extensional, compressional and strike-slipping). Worked areas includ onshore/offshore Gulf of Mexico, offshore Trinidad, Argentina, offshore UAE, China, Russian, offshore Gabon.
* Prospect Generation: Application of 3D/2D seismic, well and production data to delineate traps, predict reservoir parameter, estimate oil/gas in place and the risk, and design drillable wellpath. Worked areas include onshore/offshore Gulf of Mexico, Scotia Sea deepwater of Canada, Bohai Bay of China, and offshore Gabon.
* Regional Study: Analyze, interpret and integrate geophysical and geological data to establish/update structural frameworks and depositional systems, define prospective areas/intervals and dilling locations, and evaluate potential/risk. Worked areas include South Louisiana, Pirity Basin of Paraguay, East Java Sea of Indonesia and Bohai rift Basin of China. The regional studies of South Louisiana Land-water Transition Zone include Miocene Sequence Stratigraphy, Production History and Analysis and Seismic Facies Interpretation. Integration of these studies has revealed unrecognized geological complexity and significant unexplored potentials in deep sections.
* Seismic Prospectivity Screening: Applying high-tech to effectively define top opportunities for recompletion and infill/exploration drilling within 3D seismic survey areas. I am the primary investigator of the Schlumberger patented QuickSEIS and ClassCube technologies. QuickSEIS is a rapid seismic screening approach to identify the most prospective areas through comprehension of seismic attributes, well and production data and regional studies. ClassCube is a 3D seismic classification approach to predict the 3D distribution of pore fluid and lithology. A production calibrated and multi-seismic attribute classified low risk hydrocarbon-bearing class is generated and interpreted as DHI.
* Asset evaluation: Focused on production property evaluation. Estimate proved reserves, upsides potential, drilling risks and economic values for business deal in property transactions, farm in, farm out, risk/reward services. Worldwide experiences.
* Salt interpretation: profound knowledge of salt tectonic and rich experience of interpreting complex salt bodies. Worked areas include South Louisiana, Louisiana Shelf (WesternGeco eDrangon and other), deep water Gulf of Mexico (WesternGeco eDog, eCat eOctopus and others), and Caspian Sea.
