Contracted to Expro, Schlumberger, Halliburton, Weatherford and Qserv in Doha, Qatar U.A.E.and Madras in India, other locations worked in have included Thailand, China, Denmark, Holland, Equatorial Guinea, Myanmar,(formerly Burma), Turkey, Azerbaijan, Spain, Italy, East Timor, Australia, Mauritania, Kazakhsatan.
Carried out all aspects of slick line and braided line work on offshore platforms, semis, drill ships, jackups, and land operations, work has involved completions, well testing, fishing, perforating (electric line, slick line and braided line) bridge plugs etc.

Re-employed by Expro as Wireline Operator/Supervisor, working mainly for BP in the Forties Field from 1993 to 1995. Supervisor for Elf Caledonian Enterprises Ltd on Piper B, Saltire A, Claymore and Kings North Explorer. Responsibilities included all aspects of slick line work and had joint responsibility with Read UK Ltd Engineers for electric line work, carrying out PLT's, Perforating, Sondex Caliper Surveys, Sondex Camera Surveys, Electronic Memory Gauges (Hewlett Packard and Quartz Dyne), etc.

* October 1990 Wireline Operator/Rigger
Self-employed as Operator/Rigger working for Seaway UK Ltd on their diving vessels the Osprey and Harrier at Peterhead ASCO base,Immingham,North sea.
I was involved in the preparation of the diving bells before and after dives, sending down and retrieving equipment to the divers, and the repair and maintenance of any equipment on board to keep the diving operation in progression.

The first 10 months were spent at Shell UK's workshop and test site at Altens Industrial Estate, Aberdeen.
Responsibilities included all aspects of servicing and maintenance of wireline tools and associated wireline equipment, maintenance of inventories of tools and equipment transferred from offshore, and maintenance of records of work carried out on each item.
Pressure testing and function testing of all equipment was also necessary, eg BOP's (Texas, Bowen, Otis), Lubricators, Grease Injection Equipment etc, and assisted in the make up of completions prior to shipment offshore.
* Returned offshore March 1990, working on various semi-submersibles and platforms operated by Shell and BP. Work consisted mainly of workovers (including ESP's), plugging, gas lift

Worked a 28-on, 28-off rota for Unical in the Gulf of Thailand. The work consisted mainly of Amerada surveys, zone changes, safety valve changeouts and associated production wireline operations:bailing,drifts broachs,fishing,plugs,etc.

Mobilblast (name of business)
Started up shot-blasting,plastic coating, spray-painting business under the Business and Enterprise Scheme. Dealt with various firms: oil-related and diving companies to agricultural engineers,farmers and metal fabricators. Also took private commissions: restoring garden furniture,gates,classic vehicles etc.
Sold all equipment and goodwill in summer of 1988.

Worked in the North Sea for Unocal, Amoco and Shell, but mainly as senior wireline Operator on Unical's Heather Alpha platform. Wireline operations were fairly extensive and included Gas Lift Changeouts, Completions (single and dual), SSSV Changeouts, Zone Changes, Amerada Surveys and Drifting, and Testing and Preparation of Completions.

Worked as on-land Wireline Specialist for the following companies: Hartogen, Delhi, BHP in Roma, Queensland, Alice Springs, Moomba, Coober Pedy and Adelaide. Used truck-mounted wireline units.
Operations included setting and pulling of plugs, opening and closing SSD's, Bailing, Paraffin Cutting, Electric Line Surface Read-Out Surveys, regular Amerada Surveys and Gas Lift Changeouts. Was sole operator for these areas and responsible for maintenance and repair of equipment of all major service companies, ie Otis, Baker, Camco, Hewlett Packard and Flopetrol. Also assisted in the fabrication and repair of new and existing wireline trucks, ordering parts and associated office duties.

I was also taught and carried out blacksmithing and fabrication work, welding( stick and M.I.G.)gas cutting and lathe work.
I also attended Massey Ferguson's training college in Coventry England, on several courses,and gained certificates on each,for passing the end of course examination.
