Working as a Supervising Discipline Engineer on project for Chevron to develop the Piceance basin in Colorado to produce gas from on shore wells. The project involves routing gas from wells to well pad where gas is processed before being piped to a central processing facility for separation, drying and then compressed to ship to customers via pipe lines. I have a team of engineers and designers to help me with the instrumentation, controls and communication part of the project.
The group is responsible for selecting, sizing and specifying field instrumentation, control room hardware which consists of Allen Bradley, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and communication hardware consisting of media converters, fiber optic patch panels, Ethernet switches, repeaters and panels.
We are generating documentation for field construction such as loop drawings, wiring diagrams, location plans, cable schedules, logic diagrams, updating P&ID's and writing controls narrative to facilitate programming of PLC.
I am providing technical consultancy, client coordination, meeting with vendors, progress reporting to management to ensure project is within budget and on schedule.

My last assignment was to lead a team of engineers to provide detailed design on a refinery expansion for Shell Motiva in their facility at Port Arthur, Texas. I am responsible for all Instrument and electrical work for the Sulfur block consisting of 3 Sulfur Recovery Units, 3 Tail Gas Units, 2 Amines recovery units, 2 Sour Water Stripping Units, loading facility and a Tank Farm unit.
Finished detail design engineering package on a marine vapor recovery project for Citgo refinery in Corpus Christi
I also did the front end loading (FEL) work on a $100 m Tail gas unit for Citgo refinery in Lemont, Illinois.
Prior to above assignment I did instrumentation and electrical work on a boiler feed water upgrade for a local plant in Houston.
I also wrote specifications for analyzer house with chromatographs for a chemical plant in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Mar. 2000 – Mar. 2006 CDI Engineering and Kelly Technical, Houston, Texas
Assigned to Dow Chemical plant in Texas City, Texas. I worked as a Senior Process Automation Engineer. I worked working with control room instrumentation primarily Honeywell TDC-3000 control system, Triconex safety shutdown systems, I am responsible for all phases of the project from project definition to final commissioning and start up.
Prior to Texas City assignment, I was at Bayer plant site in Baytown, Texas working as a senior PCS Engineer to handle Instrumentation, Analyzer and Electrical projects. I worked on several projects in units namely TDI, Coatings, Polycarbonate and Bisphenol (BPA). I was responsible for the execution of projects from conception to start up.
This included cost estimates, selection, sizing and specifying field and control room instrumentation (Fisher "Provox" and Siemens Moore "APACS" system), Safety-Instrumented system (Siemens Moore "Quadlog" system), Analyzers for gas monitoring (Phosgene, CO and Chlorine), waste water-monitoring system, (CEMS) analyzers.
Mar. 1990 – Feb.2000 Senior Instrumentation / Electrical Engineer
Wynn Corporation & Chem-Kon Engineering Svcs,
Houston, Texas
Assigned to Lyondell Chemical Co. (formerly ARCO Chemical Co.) in Bayport, Texas to work on an instrument retrofit project to change existing pneumatic controls on a propylene oxide unit to a Honeywell "TDC-3000" DCS control system and also utilized a "Triconex" TMR system for emergency shutdown system. I worked thru the completion of the project; I was the primary liaison between the owner and contract engineering firm. I was involved with the detailed design at the contractor's facility that included review and approval of engineering drawings, configuration and data base development and factory acceptance test. This was followed with construction, commissioning and hot cut over activity at the site.
For small capital and expense plant projects I was directly responsible for sizing, specification, selection and recommendation of field instrumentation, control valves, relief valves and process analyzers.
