WORK EXPERIENCE * Worked in a position of "Senior Chemist" for a period of 13 years and 4 months (1981-1994) in a Modern Thermal Power Station and Large Desalination Plants with Sharjah Electricity and Water Department in the United Arab Emirates.
* Worked for 4 years (1994-1998) as Laboratory Chemist, in-Charge of "Offshore Chemical Laboratory" for Bunduq Co. Ltd, a Japanese concern, producing Oil/Gas based offshore Abu Dhabi.
* Presently working for Occidental Petroleum of Qatar Ltd for the last seven years, based offshore Qatar as Field Production Chemist on a rotation of 28 off / 28 on days basis.
NATURE OF JOB WITH RESPECT TO THERMAL POWER STATION & DESALINATION PLANT * Complete water analysis of high-pressure boiler samples, such as Boiler feed water, Boiler drum water Economizer, Saturated Steam, Superheated Steam and Condensate.
* Analysis of samples from Closed Circuit Cooling water and once through cooling water systems.
* Complete analysis of blended potable water, Underground Water, Formation Water, Deionised water from Ion Exchangers and Seawater samples.
* Analysis of various samples from Desalination of Multi-Stage Flash units such as, distillate, Recycle brine, Brine Blowdown, Brine Heater Condensate, further to determine the Total Loss of Alkalinity, Concentration Factor of Recycle brine, Heat-transfer coefficient.
* To estimate the strength of Hypochlorite from Chlorinators.
* Analysis of Deposits, Scales and Sludge from Turbine blades Boiler tubes, Boiler drums, Lubricating Oil coolers, Lubricating Oil purifiers, Generators air coolers, Brine-heaters, Desalination unit stages, Condensers, Chimneys, Pre-air heaters.
* Flue gas analysis.
* Analysis of fuel oil (light & heavy), Lubricating Oil, Transformer Oil, Engine Oil, and Compressor Oil. The routine tests includes Specific gravity, viscosity, Flash point, determination of Vanadium, Potassium, Sodium, Calorific value, Acidity, Oxidation Stability, Water Content by Karl Fischer, Air release value, Rust Prevention test, Total insoluble, Calorific value of gas.
* Responsible for chemical dosing to high pressure boilers, Desalination units, Blended Potable water for domestic and town, Cooling systems, Preservation of Boilers and other high pressure vessels for long and short shutdown period.
* Supervision of chemical preparation for Boilers, Ion Exchangers, Desalination units, Blending plant (for potable water), Cooling systems.
* Acid cleaning of High-pressure boilers during commissioning, Desalination units, Heat Exchangers, and chlorinator cells.
* Testing of raw material, Maintaining stock, Log/Record book.
SCOPE OF WORK IN OIL FIELDS OFFSHORE INCLUDES „± Analysis of process and injection water samples from water Injection facility of an enhance secondary recovery (Waterflooding).
„± An important analysis of injected water, is to determine the number and size of particles suspended in an electrically conductive liquid by Coulter Counter.
„± Analysis samples of Yield Products, from Oil Fields Reservoir.
„± Analysis of Potable water from Distillers by the process of "Thermodynamic vapour compression Distillation".
„± Analysis of low pressure Boiler water samples.
„± Analysis of samples from "Gas Sweetening Plant".
„± Analysis of samples from Gas Dehydration plant.
„± To perform quality control checks on cement slurries.
„± To perform quality check on drilling and completion fluid chemicals by preparing drilling fluids and performing analytical tests, such has mud tracer..
„± To perform A.P.I. quality control checks on Class G Oil Well cement.
„± To perform A.P.I. quality control checks of Bentonite and Barite.
„± Monitoring of residual chlorine in seawater systems.
„± Emulsion Tendency Performance Test
„± Carried out Demulsifier bottle testing.
„± Monitored three phase separation trials.
„± To test samples for Sewage Plant.
„± Test to evaluate and monitor the performance of Corrosion Inhibitor, by weight loss and LPR method.
„± Calculation and adjustments of chemical dosing of Coagulant, Flocculant, Scales Inhibitor, Corrosion Inhibitor, and to check residual in the system.
„± Calibration and Standardization of analytical equipment/instruments and analytical methods.
