* Instrumental in introducing new products/services on strategic customers in South America through innovation in business and processes which add value to our customers and bring growth margins for the company.

Experience:

My oilfield experience has always been related with rotary drilling, exploration and services to oil industry. Positions held throughout twenty-plus year tenure at Schlumberger Ltd and recently with Baker Hughes instilled a sense of international business management culture along with acquiring invaluable knowledge and insight of the petroleum industry.
Career path began in Jan 1978 with Occidental Petroleum Co. and became a Rotary Drilling Rig Foreman Jr. In Jan 1980, I joined the Schlumberger group as Directional Drilling field engineer in Brazil followed by assignments in Argentina (1981), Colombia (1982 till 1983) and given my skills promptly led to advancement within the corporate ladder to operations supervisory level (1983 till 1985) and more middle management positions in the years after. As my career developed I undertook more opportunities in Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, United Kingdom, Canada, U.S.A. and finally to México in 1998 until end of 2004 when I turn in my early retirement and joined Baker Hughes with the Hughes Christensen Division in Mexico.

The opportunities enabled me to cultivate a diverse work experience dealing with clients and customers from varying nationalities and customs. From a management perspective, I took more business responsibilities and became familiar with concepts such as QHSE, business performance, optimization, leadership communication, responsiveness and customer focus, business ethics, and people development.

I am responsible for the planning and execution of strategies to change Hughes Christensen business model in Mexico with Pemex and Service Companies. Over the past three year and a half there has been a succession of positive changes—raising QHSE culture and standards, business growth through innovation in marketing objectives, organization, Mexican people development and succession planning and 208% incremental on PAT compared with 2004's results.

Over 20 years of international experience. During this period I acquired an invaluable knowledge which allows me to grow personally and professionally. I started as a field engineer and made my way to management positions. I worked in several countries: Brazil (twice), Argentina, Colombia (twice), Venezuela (twice), U.K., Canada, USA and in Mexico for almost 7 years. I acquired broad experience dealing with different customers from different nationalities and cultures. I learned and adopted concepts such as QHSE, performance, optimization, responsiveness, availability and creating value for its customers.

I was responsible for the successful start-up of the project which encompassed drilling 40 gas wells in Veracruz fields during 2004 and mid 2005.

This integrated services project includes: QHSE, civil work for building land locations and its access roads, rig moving, well planning and execution, logistics, dealing with local communities, coordination with all SLB divisions and third parties for a smooth and flawless operation, financial results for the IO and divisions, identify and work with divisions on addendums to enrich PBT through addition of new technologies and convince Pemex to accept them among others.

Mexico & Central America Manager June 1998 to Dec 2003
I was responsible for the growth of Drilling & Measurement businesses in Mexico. In June 1998 I found the branch in bad financial straits, with losses of about 12% and the market share at 26%. As a result of remedial actions taken and the implementation of mid-long term strategies, including direct sales efforts on my part, service quality, sales, and profit were gradually increasing among others. At the end of the fifth year total revenues were almost eight fold and net profit at 20% with a market share of about 60%.

For family reasons I decided to relocate at Houston from which I'd commute to both Canada and Maracaibo participating on medium and short radius horizontal drilling wells. I was also in charge of Occidental Petroleum drilling campaign at Alturitas field as project manager.

In this position I was responsible for the management of a small business, mainly Directional Drilling, MWD and LWD services.

Another promotion, I was responsible of supervising the correct operations of 4 to 5 simultaneous DD jobs for Elf, Ecopetrol and Texaco.

As a recently graduated Petroleum Engineer I joined OXY as a trainee at the Drilling & Completion Engineering Department for Jungle operations in Peru. I participated in several DST jobs, gas lift completions systems, rig-up/rig-down and heli-transported rig movements and the entire drilling operations from surface hole to TD.
I had a hands on training" and I was exposed to several job positions from roughabout to driller before they gave me the opportunity to command my own rotary drilling rig (Parker 127) under supervision from OXY Drilling Supt.
This was an excellent experience which guided my future career in the well drilling arena.

Education:
I Graduated from Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería – Lima, Peru Dec 1977 with a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, majoring in drilling and reservoir engineering.
