Leading the mechanical engineering of ship-board heavy lifting cranes and mechanisms in accordance with the Lloyd's Register of Shipping codes of practice and American engineering standards. The specialized mechanisms include multiple 150 tonne traction winches, sophisticated reeving arrangements and the use of exotic materials for high strength and minimum weight. I worked on the design of the jacket lift system with a lifting capacity of 25.000 t.
The Pieter Schelte will be 382 m long, 117 m wide dynamically positioned platform installation/ decommissioning and pipelay vessel. This project is for a privately owned company with a value of 1.7 Billion Euros.
I have produced reports to support design concepts and underpin floating systems. I have produced calculations and defined acceptance criteria to CLAME, API RP2A - LRFD and ANSI/AISC 360-05. The documents have included structural steel strength calculations in addition to rotating equipment power requirements and selection.
