The University of Texas at Austin, TX
GPA = 3.44/4.0
Research Supervisor: Dr Matthew T Balhoff
Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering – [October 1998 – September 2002]
U.V.C.E., Bangalore, India
Courses: Adv. Drilling and Well Completions, Adv. Reservoir Engineering, Geology, Production Technology & Design, Drilling Engineering, Advanced Petro-physics, Non-linear Flow through Porous Media, Finite Element Methods, (Related Undergraduate) Numerical Methods, Engineering Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Control Engineering, Operations Research
Thesis: Up-Scaling Permeability in Heterogeneous Porous Media from Pore to Continuum Scale.
Validating the permeability tensors calculated by mortar coupling and finite difference methods of very large network models with their true permeability's.
* Achieved, the generation/solution of network models having more than a million pores.
* Created and solved linear systems of equations, in sparse storage using FORTRAN-90.
* Focused technical skills in creating a flexible network model simulator.
* Solved network models using the finite difference approach.
* Generated spatially correlated network models using Monte Carlo sampling.
* APPLICATION: Understanding near well bore phenomena.
Presentation: Computing Optimization in Very Large Network Models (~1 million pores).
The presentation briefly explained my topic of research with focus on computing optimization techniques that were carried out, while generating and solving very large network models.
Seminar: Maximizing Drill Rates with Real Time Surveillance of Maximum Specific Energy (MSE)
The seminar focused on the concept of MSE and how it was being used in real time by drilling teams at Exxon Mobil, in improving the rate of penetration (ROP) by quantifying the ROP limiters and mitigating them on a step by step basis.
Simulation Project: Validate Simulations between Water and Polymer Floods (Eclipse)
Compared the water and polymer flood oil recoveries, injection pressures, produced concentrations, viscosity and pressure maps along with the effect of grid refinements for a set of injectors and producers.
Kriging Project: Predicting Porosity in a Heterogeneous Reservoir
Estimated the values of porosity at locations where there were no measurements using data of porosity from known locations.
Work Experience
Lead Installation Engineer, J Ray McDermott, Dubai – [September 2002 – August 2007]
