These: Statistical techniques for fluid discrimination from seismic in low-tar sand heavy oil reservoirs, applications to reservoir characterization and to seismic monitoring.

During my Ph.D., I have worked with rock physics in heavy oil unconsolidated sands reservoirs using Hertz-Mindlin theory. I have studied the impact of lithology, porosity, pressure, type of fluids and the microscopic heterogeneity of the rock (grain size, sorting, cement, etc.) in seismic response. I have made facies classification by pattern recognition and statistical methods (bayessian approach), and reservoir model from fluvial environment using geostatistics simulations (pluri-gaussian simulation for lithology and sequential gaussian simulation for petrophysical properties). I will build petroelastic model constraint by petrophysical properties and rock physics model. I will perform seismic forward modeling to understand phenomena as anisotropy, attenuation, rock consolidation and rock heterogeneity in heavy oil unconsolidated sands reservoirs.

Petroleos de Venezuela – Research center (PDVSA Intevep) (1997- Now):
Reservoir geophysics, seismic interpreter.

My job is to research, adapt an use technologies and methodologies in order to help oil & gas reservoir characterization, using seismic and its integration with geology, petrophysics and reservoir engineering. The objectives are to improve subsurface description, to optimize petroleum well location and to increase recovery factor in oil & gas fields.

I have worked at Intevep in reservoir teams as seismic interpreter in Venezuelan Oil Basins in different tectonics (extensive and compressive) and sedimentological (clastic and carbonates) environments. I have built structural model using seismic and geological data in time and depth domain. I have made successful well proposals with seismic data. I have worked with seismic attributes and rock physics in order to estimate reservoir properties from seismic data.

I have also worked as reservoir modeler using geostatistics and integrating seismic, geological, petrophysical and production data. I have made a reservoir static model (structural, facies and petrophysical models) and defined flow units to quantifier oil reserves.

I have been in charge of geophysical activities in reservoir studies and prepared project proposals. I have contributed in junior geophysicists education programs.
