OBJECTIVE: Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technician position with a company seeking a Troubleshooting Specialist with years of experience in installation, commissioning, regulatory documentation, project management, high-profile customer services, and a proven background in all aspects of electronics, from DC to Microwave, and from distributed aircraft power generation and distribution systems to PID Loop Process Control of medical diagnostic imaging scanners, small chemical refineries, gas turbine-driven compressors, and food packing plants.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Controls Engineer 10/2008 – 8/2009: Dresser-Rand Co., Houston, TX. Designed, installed, and programmed PLC systems and HMIs to automate the operation and safety systems of gas compressor systems; from small electric motor drive recips to LM-2500 driven 2 stage with power generation. Made schematic markups, I/O list changes, and modifications to Relay Ladder Logic using RS Logix 5000, Proficy, and Logic Master 90. Programmed timers, alarms, and shutdowns from logic sequence diagrams, Cause / Effect charts, Control Narratives, P&IDs, and other customer specifications.
Automation Consultant (Self Employed) 12/2006 – 8/2008: Makena Micro, Houston, TX. Designed, installed, and programmed PLC systems and HMIs to automate food processing, microbreweries, and biodiesel plants; ported automation reports into QuickBooks for production accounting purposes.
Field Technician 10/2004 – 12/2006 GE Energy Penpower, Tampa, Florida. Remove, Install, Align, and Calibrate GE medical imaging equipment. CT Scanners, PET Scanners, and similar equipment. Installed wiring, supervised and worked with other trades to ensure quality of installation. Upon system startup, ensured calibration and quality assurance of images as well as system alignment to 1/2 mm accuracy. Composed reports and filed regulatory documents with home office for Federal regulatory requirements. Followed up with customers to ensure customer satisfaction with installation process and quality. Position entails approximately 80% travel with 20% of work in home area, with project sites throughout the 48 continental States. Also involves heavy lifting and rigging to place and align components in excess of 2 tons to within 3 mm, and aligning 1/2 ton parts with the main unit to 1/2 mm tolerances.

Called on sales and marketing managers of various companies to obtain government supply contracts that require or benefit from minority business participation. Trained new hires in methods of determining contract feasibility and margin. Researched government purchasing records under freedom of information act to analyze past contracts and boost sales. During this period sales volume from our 6 employee company exceeded 3 Million dollars.
Hazard Analyst 1/2003 - 10/2003 Umatilla Morrow ESD; Pendleton, OR
Operate weather modeling computers, videoconference equipment, and radios to provide vapor plume prediction in the event of a Chemical Accident / Incident at the US Army Chemical Weapons Depot. Provide help desk support and work on IT related projects, such as web site modification for PDA use. Multi-task on 5 separate computers at once during emergencies and be able to effect on-site repairs to any part of the system at any time to ensure availability of service. Install hardware, software, and network infrastructure for small communications / analysis centers.
NT Network Customer Support Tech 1/2001 - 11/2001 Bechtel National, Richland, WA. Imaged and installed new PC systems, troubleshot connectivity problems, and supported Office 97. Performed hardware troubleshooting and performed minor network administration tasks in an all-Compaq NT environment. Assisted users with general software and setup issues.
Biomedical Equipment Service Tech 6/1999 - 1/2001 Cadwell Laboratories, Kennewick, WA. Repaired and performed preventive maintenance on proprietary neurodiagnostic equipment and the PC compatibles they interfaced with in a manufacturing environment. Provided international telephone support for clinicians and physicians. Assisted in the production of this equipment, including surface mount and board repair soldering.
Field Computer Service Technician 10/1997 - 3/1999 Computer Solutions, Hawaii, Hilo, Hawaii. Assembled, upgraded, modified, troubleshot, setup, repaired computers and associated equipment. Installed cable plants and certified to CAT 5 with documentation. Installed and maintained network equipment, and programmed Windows computers to use Microsoft, Novell, and TCP/IP networks. Installed wiring and electronics equipment in accordance with FPA and UBC guidelines. Troubleshot, tested, maintained, and upgraded fire and security systems. Installed relay logic and electromechanical control systems for gates, doors, cameras, windows, and fire sensors. Also worked on 70v intercom / PA systems.
Aircraft Electrical Systems Specialist 8/1984 - 10/1987 United States Air Force, Europe & Little Rock AFB, AR. U S. Air Force, Honorable Discharge. Troubleshot, repaired, modified, inspected, installed and operations checked aircraft electrical and electronic components, systems, subsystems, and test equipment. Assisted in avionics suite maintenance and maintained aircraft maintenance records. Also took part in general maintenance, as well as flight line operations.

Vocational aircraft electronics study focusing on electrical and electronic control systems and power generation / distribution systems. Certified to perform work on F-16 A/B/C/D and C-130 E/G/H, as well as the MC-130 series of aircraft. F-16 certification included total avionics suite, including comm., nav., ECM, flight controls, hydraulics, fuel controls, environmental systems, power generation and distribution.
