I am ambitious, self motivated, hard working, upright and fluent in 3 languages (English, French & Dutch). As a Belgian brought up in the Congo, totaling my Africa experience to 25 years, I have always found myself able to adapt to any environment.
I am looking for a challenging expatriate position on family basis where I can enhance the knowledge that I have, and am sure that in the right position, will add value to the business.
Sixteen years experience in the management, production, materials, logistics and international transport fields, fourteen of which are at managerial level, the last eleven years being spent as an expatriate West Africa and West-Central Africa, working first for a division of a multinational dredging and earth moving company, and then for a multinational shipping and logistics company.
Have been in: Mali, Burkina, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Sao Tome, Congo Rep., DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Mauritius.
My main responsibilities have covered general management, production, procurement, warehousing, forwarding & clearing, logistics, budget & cost control and mentoring.
July 2006 – till today:
SHIPPING LINE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE
Multinational leader in shipping & logistics group

Responsibilities:
- Focal point of all department-related business in the area.
- Implement strategy in the area, namely grow portfolio by targeting oil & gas, mining & large project imports.
- Primary contact for all major customers.
- Ensure fastest possible dispatch of our vessels in the area.
- Define and implement SLA's / KPI's with all parties.
- Hands-on tutoring of selected personnel (approx 30).
- Refine and implement procedures.

- Improvement on operational vessel turns times and on communication stream between agencies.

LOGISTICS COUNTRY MANAGER

Lomé – Togo (hub for inland transport to landlocked countries)
Responsibilities:
- Providing leadership and management of the logistics services within country.
- Driving strategy execution and product management.
- Managing all aspects of logistics service delivery.
- Supporting area service delivery coordinators.
- Supervising 15 staff.
- Full budget and P&L responsibility.
- Implement area contract strategy.
Achievements:
- Integrating into a first class multinational transport group on managerial level.
- Reduction of outstanding incomes by 90%.
September 2003 – August 2004:
LOGISTICS COST CONTROLER
D.E.M.E. multinational Belgian dredging & earth moving group
Port 2000 - Le Havre - France (major European harbor extension project, budget € 200 million)
Responsibilities:
- Budget control and cost forecasts on wear en tear.
- Monitoring the wear & tear of all dredging vessels by the means of ultrasound.
- Following-up new cost reducing technologies.
Achievements:
- Standardizing the mapping of all the dredging apparatus for W&T purposes.
- Implementing cost saving procedures.
September 1998 – September 2003:
MATERIALS & LOGISTICS MANAGER
D.E.M.E. multinational Belgian dredging & earth moving group
Port Harcourt - Nigeria - West Africa (support base for Africa, Oil & Gas sector)
Responsibilities:
- Procurement on both local and foreign markets.
- Responsible for the warehouses, of both local and foreign goods (incl. lubricants and fuels up to € 1 million).
- Importing, exporting and forwarding, with assistance from an agent (consumables, parts, land-and sea-working equipment's), including pre-releases, duty exemptions and temporary importations.
- Boarding and clearing, comprising negotiations with customs, immigrations and port authorities.
- Arranging and monitoring of transports / shipping between head office, base and local or international sites.
- Supervising 50 staff, both locals and expatriates.
- Providing and following-up of catering for locals and expatriates, including on houseboats in the swamp sites.
- Relieving the base Administrator while on leave (financial and personnel department).
Achievements:
- Supplied the sites with local and imported requests, within timeframes and quality requirements and cleared all importations within projects scopes.
- Implemented stock managing software enabling cost monitoring of the procurements and reduced costs by 38%.
- Reduced the total stock value without quality loss neither delivery delays and kept staff level equal although work volume increased by 300%.
- Implemented group's quality and safety standards.
