Dates, Position, company and Job Natures

1976 – 83 Senior engineer with the Drainage Irrigation Dept.,
Malaysia. He served a total 8 years, overseeing projects such as the KL
Flood Mitigation project, construction of Klang Gates Dam, Kelantan
Irrigation schemes ion project.
He was involved in the planning and design and supervision of works. He also picked up government procedures and gained useful contact.

1984 –86 In Singapore and joined the consulting firm
Y S Lau consulting engineers as Resident engineers in the Singapore
Turf club project, overseeing the construction of its car park and road projects. He conducted checks and advice the HQ of progress and Monitor quality as well as prepare and verify as built drawings.

1987 –88 Ir Cheng served as a project manager for L& M Prestressing Pte Ltd and was in charge of the Construction of cable stayed prestressing Stadium at Yishun

1989 –90 Joined the Econ Group In Singapore and was its Senior Manager in charge of It's Trench less / pipe jacking / microtunnelling section covering 3 km of 2.1 m pipe jacking. He was also coordinating the
Monorail project at the Jurong Bird Park. In this period he was mastering the skills of a contractor and learnt the quality and safety aspects of engineering work as well as thru important technical know how and the need to keep abreast with the development of

1991-92 Returned to Malaysia and joined Asie Sdn Bhd as its general manager. Asie is a diversified group with interest in oil and gas and also engineering works. He was put in charge of the railway prestressed sleepers factory at Nilai and invloved in the double track work from
Klang to Seremban.
At the same time he started timber roof truss factory in Johor for the group.
He was in consultation with the chairman on all the company
Development and secured projects such as sewer work at Tanjung Manis
Timber processing zones as well as pipe jacking work in Nilai

1993 – 2001 Joined as Senior manager of Tunneltek Sdn Bhd, a company
Specialist in sewer, and pipe laying and has completed projects in
Thailand (30 km) and S E Asian countries like Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore. The company also did jobs in India (Calcutta). Ir Cheng traveled extensively and worked parallel with the operation team to accomplish the projects.

2002 - 04 Joined the Abu Dhabi company, part of Tunneltek Group, as manger to take charge of 16 km of tunnels and sewage project. At the same period he traveled to other
Middle East countries and completed projects in Qatar.
