Negotiated prototype excavator with all engineering updates for 66 % less than the cost of a new unit. Company needed additional loading equipment. Major equipment manufacturer was developing a new line of hydraulic excavators. Met with local dealer and negotiated a 24-month deal to use the prototype machine. Prototype saved 20% in loading costs.
The only cost to company was fuel and lubrication.

Saved $1M annually in wages and fringe benefits.
Production was falling behind schedule and the long-range plan indicated the need for 50 to 70
additional operators over the next five years.
Determined outsourcing was the most cost effective solution and negotiated a deal with a local outsourcing contractor.

Applied evaluation template throughout company, saving over $15M. Wages, including fringe benefits were increasing close to 10% per year.
In a competitive market, the company was very close to pricing itself out of the marketplace.
Assembled a gain-sharing plan that paid out only if the company made a profit. Established template for measuring profitability, safety and product quality. Local unit savings reached
$1.5M.

Achieved national safety recognition for achieving 2.1M man-hours without a lost time accident. The mine was recognized as a runner up to a larger mine in the Mine Safety and
Health Association's Sentinels of Safety. Led safety team in planning and implementation of a
"safe production" program that entailed making employees accountable for controllable mishaps and rewarding them for quality performance.
