Synopsis
My experience stems from high risk industries such as Offshore Oil and Gas, Land based Seismic, Construction build and roadwork's, Nuclear, Transco, Domestic Gas, Civils reinstatement, Grounds Maintenance and Electronics and Communications contracts.
After serving on a mobile Seismic Crew in Libya, I completed 2 years as the company's Corporate HSE Supervisor prior to becoming an HSE Consultant for the Oil and Gas Industry.
I am a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner (CMIOSH) and a corporate member of IIRSM(MIIRSM).

As HSE Supervisor at AG-01, Head Office – Tripoli, Libya (frequent trips to the field).
In charge of all aspects related to Health, Safety the Environment and Emergency Response including the provision of Safety Instruction.
Initial requirement at start of employment was to raise the standard of one mobile Seismic Survey Camp.

2004 Employed by ALSTEC Ltd
As Health and Safety Advisor for the Principal Contractor, this position required me to deal with all safety matters including the preparation of the Health & Safety Plan, during the Enabling Works and subsequent construction of a Containment Building at Dounreay.

2004 Employed by Marconi Government & Defence (CDM Regulations apply).
As Health and Safety Advisor, this position required me to visit multiple RAF sites within the UK in order to implement all aspects of Health and Safety.

2003 Employed by Rand Road Surfacing (Construction Company).
Updating and developing Health & Safety documentation for Rand Road Surfacing (construction company),
Netherton, Liverpool. This was an extensive duty and required me to develop their Health & Safety Management System, which included the following: Health & Safety Plan, Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality
Policy Statements, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Gang Packs, Pre-contract package, Accident / Incident investigation and reporting package, and a full training package containing company induction, and over 60
toolbox talks.

2003 Employed by Lafarge Contracting (Construction Company).
Responsible for all Health & Safety duties, i.e. giving inductions, toolbox talks, safety audits, writing risk assessments and preparing the Construction Health & Safety file. I was involved in several road surfacing contracts in which heavy duty vehicles, machinery, equipment and plant were used for civils, planing, cleaning, tack-coating, laying of tarmac, road cutting, white lining and reinstatement of cats eyes and gully's. I assessed and rectified numerous 'Near Miss' reports and on several occasions, observed and initiated them myself.

2003 Employed by Enterprise as HSE & Q Manager for Scotland.
Responsible for all Health & Safety duties, i.e. giving inductions, toolbox talks, safety audits and writing risk assessments. I concluded around ten full accident investigations from notification of accident through to completion of the final report; On several occasions it was necessary for me to (also) complete and forward
RIDDOR reports to the Health & Safety Executive.

I audited the Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems of a Chinese Seismic Crew in Syria, and completed a full audit and inspection report for their Head Office in Beijing.

April 2007 – May 2007
I served 4 weeks north of Palmyra, Syria and successfully raised the standard of HSE on a Croatian Seismic crew.
I wrote site-specific plans for the following:
1. HSE Plan
2. Emergency Response Plans (Fire, MEDEVAC, Emergency Spill Control and Man Missing / Lost Procedures).
Note: This plan was also written so that the last 4 chapters plus the Emergency Telephone numbers could be put into a soft-backed folder and left by the exit of all doors and also kept in vehicle glove compartments.
3. Environmental Management Plan
4. Waste Management Plan (the client wanted this separate from the Envirionmental Management Plan)
5. Sub-Contractor Mangement Plan.
Once these were written, my main job was complete, however, I was extended in order to train 3 HSE Advisors, raise the standard of safety on-crew, i.e. fencing, signage, emergency drills, and I gave 40 personnel Fire Theory and Practical Training in the use of CO2, Foam and Dry Powder extinguishers and I also demonstrated (with volunteers) the use of a Fire Blanket.

June 2007
I served 2 weeks in Area 186, Kufra, Libya working for a Croatian Seismic crew by bringing their HSE standards up to an acceptable level. Training was given in various HSE subjects including Fire Training (theory and practical), JSA's and site-specific Risk Assessments.

July 2007 – December 2007
I completed 2 hitches (13 weeks total) in northern Sudan working as a HSE QC for South African Oil Company while working on a Chinese Mobile Seismic Crew. This included Pre start-up audit, continual monitoring / review of contractor including 'working to their own HSE-MS', detailed daily reports and input to the final report.

February 2008 – March 2008
This was a 'one off' assignment in Chekovskaya, Siberia working for a Major Russian Oil Company while on a Mobile Seismic Crew. Environmental conditions to -20 degs C.

Detailed work as a HSE Consultant – Oil and Gas Industry (Land).

May 2008 - June 2008
I concluded the writing of HSE Documentation for an Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Company in the Sulatanate of Oman. This included two visits to the field to do both assessments and a subsequent Incident Investigation and Report. The documentation included a HSEMS (154 pages), HSE Plan (11 pages), HEMP (43 pages / 36 HEMP's), Emergency Response Plans (38 pages), Training Matrix (1 page) and various supporting forms and procedures.

July 2008
Completed a 3 week project in the Sultanate of Oman for a subsidiary of the same company. The project entailed work on a Drilling Rig and the writing and implementation of HSE documentation for Blocks 45 and 48.

Note: A further visit for another department within this company is scheduled for September / October 2008.
Note 2: During this period I will be taking the IRCA Lead Auditors examination.
