My principal role was to assist the Team Leader in the preliminary assessment and subsequent site visit to Milan Italy. Rabigh Joint Venture (RJV) team and its USD1.9 Billion project was awarded one of the top 6 winners (not ranked any order) in a hotly contested finals held in November 2008.
2000 Acted for ABB Malaysia in its defense of arbitration taken by one of its contractor, in Regional Centre for Arbitration in KL, Malaysia. Acted as Lead Advisor to ABB and Its Legal Counsel and provided guidance on strategy and construction/FIDIC/QS practices. Arbitrator awarded only MYR3.8 Mill out of the MYR7.9 Mill Claimed. This was two years after ABB has made an offer of MYR3.4 Mill for settlement during mediation, which the Contractor declined.
1992 Acted for Barclay Mowlem in its Arbitration Against PNG Harbours Board, Brisbane Australia. Lead QS providing site and contract support to Lead Counsel from Blake Dawson Waldron ¨C Outcome: Client Offered Sealed Envelope Deal of USD 3.0 Mill in Cash and Waiver of the USD0.6 Mill LD Deducted. Total deal constituted 75% of the target set; Barclay Mowlem paid a sizeable bonus to team members of the Arbitration Team.
