KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
As a Structural and Geotechnical Engineer, Involved in the execution of various Ports & Harbour projects such as Berthing Structures, Oil berths etc. The various activities undertaken are Studying the soil behaviour based on lab reports and field results, fixing soil parameters, calculation of Pile Capacities, Settlements and analyzing ground Improvement techniques, Stability Analysis of sloped bund and Structural modeling, analysis and design of marine structures like jetties with bored cast-in-situ piles, steel piles, prestressed concrete piles and its components. MAJOR PROJECTS
Planning and design of minor Irrigation dam Jul 2000 to May 2001
Planning and design of an earthen embankment with surplus and outlet arrangements and also stability and seepage analysis for the dam has been carried out. Programs were written in C language for the design of Surplus and Outlet arrangements.
Design of Diaphragm Wall at Visakhapatnam Port Jan 2002 to May 2003
The analysis and design of a Diaphragm wall is a Mini project undertaken as part of Masters Curriculum. The various loads due to Berthing and Mooring of Ship, Earth pressure, Water Pressure, Piles and effect due to Seismic action are considered on Diaphragm wall and is modeled and analysed using advanced package of Structural engineering. Based on the analysis results the diaphragm wall design and drawings are prepared and a report on the entire work was submitted to the department.
ABG Goa Proof checking of Berths, India Mar 2003 – May 2004
M/s Mecon Limited, India designed and prepared construction drawings for two berths for ABG Goa Port limited. Checking and approval of all the respective design documents and construction drawings is the scope of work. As a project engineer, responsible for checking the Design basis, Structural analysis, RC design and construction drawings of the project.

Surma Berthing Facilities - Detailed Engineering Project Nov 2003 – Nov 2004
Lafarge Surma Cement Limited (Owner) is setting up a new cement production factory of capacity 3600 tonnes per day near Surma River at Chattak, Thana, Sunamganj District of Bangladesh, near the border with Meghalaya state in India. The Road and Railway transport links to the site area from the nearest ports are inadequate. Consequently, the main transportation link to the site – both for bringing all the equipment for plant and materials from the Port of Mongia and for shipping out the finished product will be by lighter / barge down the Surma River. For catering to the needs of Plant, requisite river berthing facilities are planned to handle the equipment and cement product through lighter /barges.
The various structures under the scope are General Cargo Jetty, Cement Loading Jetty, Riverbank protection works, Passenger Access system and Ferry Landing facilities. As a project engineer responsible for planning, detailed analysis, design and construction drawings of all the jetty civil works.

Ethylene Terminal at Karaikal – Tender Design & Detailed Design Jun 2004 – Jan 2005
As a Project Engineer got the chance to work on both the Tender design and Detailed design of the Ethylene Terminal Project. The Drawings, Bill of Quantities were submitted based on the structural analysis and design of the Ethylene terminal during tender design stage and we won the job. During detailed design stage the Service Platform with unloading arm, Berthing Dolphins with Fenders, Bollards and Mooring Dolphins with Quick release Mooring Hooks, a Pipe line Trestle connecting Service Platform and shoreline and Pump House were designed with deck supporting on large diameter Pile groups. The water depth at the berth location is 8m. The project was effected due to Tsunami on 26th December, 2004 and is getting delayed. The sea bed profile might be changed, which needs further sea surveys to get the Bathymetry and design parameters of waves. Loss of 3 Man Power and Material was encountered due to Tsunami at the Project work Site.

Ennore Oil Berth – Tender Design – Won the Job Nov 2004 – Jan 2005
Ennore Oil berth is proposed by Ennore Port Trust to import petroleum products and chemicals. The tender design was prepared for a vessel size of partially loaded 100.000 DWT. The oil berth is modeled and analysed with Service Platform, two Berthing Dolphins and 4 Mooring dolphins using Structural analysis package. The analysis was carried out repeatedly to get safe design and to minimize the quantities. The Geotechnical specifications, Bill of Quantities and Drawings are made and submitted to the Client.
The Client won the Job and Detailed design was awarded to LTR, which is executing presently.

Trombay Multifuel Jetty, India May2003 – Sep 2003
The TATA Power Company Limited own and operate a 1350MW Thermal Power station at Trombay, Mumbai. The multi-fuel units operate on coal, Low sulphur Heavy stock/Low sulphur Waxy Residue and Natural gas. TATA Power intends to construct a multi-fuel berth at Pir Pau, Mumbai near their TPS. The berthing structure consists of a RC platform, 210 m x 13.75 m. It supports a carriageway 3.75m wide, coal conveyor, mobile unloading hoppers running on rails with 6.0m gauge, unloading arm and pipelines. It is built of precast beams and slabs, of composite construction, supported by 1100 diameter bored cast-in-situ piles. The piles are founded in general in the highly weathered rock strata. The piles consist of vertical and raker piles, which are required to control deflection of the structure which is subject to high forces arising due to the berthing of 45000 dwt vessels.
The Interconnecting Jetty connecting berth and land portion (about 2385 m long) supports the pipelines, vehicle carriageway of 3.75 m width, the coal conveyor (either pipe or belt type conveyor). The structural arrangement in general consists of vertical bored cast-in-situ piles 1100mm in diameter, two numbers at each pile bent with pile cap beam, supporting precast prestressed concrete I-girders (30 to 35 ton each), over which are placed precast deck slab elements (about 200mm thick). The span arrangement is typically 25 m continuous over 8 spans, with expansion joints at 200 m c/c.
As a project engineer responsible for Preliminary analysis, design and drawings, bill of quantities for the jetty and approach.
