* Performed an assessment of the tank system structural integrity and suitability of handling hazardous waste in accordance with the State of Tennessee Hazardous Waste Guidelines (TN Rule 1200-1-11-.06 (10) C) [40 CFR 264.192] (East Tennessee Waste Treatment Center ETWTC).
* Performed hydraulic analysis of high pressure fire loop system of zones 11 and 12 (DOE/Pantex).
* Performed structural analysis to determine the stresses in, and deformation of Silo 3 with prescribed cut-out (Fluor Fernald FEMP). The calculation was performed using the finite element software GTSTRUDL. The load factor design method as permitted by ACI 318 was used for evaluating the stresses in the Silo (dead, live, containment, pre-stressed, wind and seismic loads were considered). The developed finite element model has been used to resolve load and reinforcement issues associated with the Silo.
* Reviewed the mechanical design and the heat transfer calculations of LR-565 shipping package for the safety analysis report (DOE/SR).
* Performed safety validation assessment of high pressure systems (isostatic press, shock sleds, and air guns), the fatigue life cycle of various system components were estimated (DOE/FL Pinellas Plant).
* Performed the heating/cooling load calculations of the HVAC cascade system for the Fernald Silos 1, 2 & 3. Evaluated the ductwork pressure losses and optimized the duct system for the specified room static pressure.
* Investigated the flow and heat transfer characteristics of supercritical hydrogen in the operating range of the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) hydrogen cold source moderator vessel.
* Performed and reviewed several calculations for the horizontal beam tubes and shutters of the HFIR upgrade project (buckling, impact, and stress analysis, thermal and flow evaluation).
* Designed a direct contact heat exchanger and performed tests of different spray nozzles to determine maximum thermal efficiency.
* Involved in studies of two-phase flow under low-gravity conditions using the KC-135 aircraft and developed a computer program to predict the friction losses and the pressure drop in the pipe system for different flow regimes (NASA - Johnson Space Center, JSC).
* Involved in the design, fabrication and experimental set up of natural gas dehydrator system.
* Performed the analysis and developed the finite element computer programs for the heat transfer and fluid flow due to waste that generates heat in unsaturated porous media (DOE/NV).
* Developed the Waste Facility Performance Assessment Model (WFPAM), an integrated probabilistic and deterministic underground waste transport finite element software package.
* Performed thermal analysis of the dual liquid level measurement system for pyrochemical processing of nuclear fuel (with DELTA M Corp.)
* Measured the heat transfer coefficient and thermal characteristics of flowing granular media and packed beds.
* Developed finite element model for the thermal analysis of the flowing granular media
