Generally:

Experience covers the full range of Quantity Surveying/Estimating services from Project Inception to Completion over a long period, on a wide range of projects in many different countries (see below).

International Experience:

Countries in which projects were carried out include Ireland, England, Greece, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, USA and Australia.

More Recent Experience:

For the past twenty years I have been the Quantity Surveyor in charge of the Irish office of a firm of International Quantity Surveyors. Projects were mostly in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. During this time I have also lectured in Quantity Surveying at the Limerick Institute of Technology.

Computers:

I have used computer applications extensively to streamline production. I have personally developed a number of Software Packages to assist the Q.S. in technical and administration areas (e.g. Finishing Schedules, Bill of Quantity Production, Job Costing Systems). I have also developed packages for non-qs work (e.g. examination results system for the Limerick Institute of Technology and patient recording system for a large hospital.)

CHRONOLOGICAL EXPERIENCE:

1982 – Present:Quantity Surveyor in charge of Irish office of International firm of Quantity Surveyors. Projects in Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. They included King Khalid Military City (Al Batin), King Saud University (Riyadh), King Saud University (Abha), SCECO – Saudi Central Electricity Company HQ (Riyadh) and The Saudi Embassy (Cairo). Also during this time lectured in Quantity Surveying at the Limerick Institute of Technology.

1976 – 1982: Quantity Surveyor in charge of US office of International Firm of Quantity Surveyors, based in Boston, Massachusetts. Projects mainly in Saudi Arabia, the largest of which was King Khalid Military City, a 6 Billion dollar project located in Al Batin, north eastern Saudi Arabia. This project required ongoing and extensive contact with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (the overall construction managers) in Winchester, Virginia

1973 – 1976: Quantity Surveyor with multidisciplined US firm of Architect/Engineers based in Athens. Projects in Saudi Arabia, Lybia, Germany and Italy.

1971 – 1973: Quantity Surveyor with international practice of Chartered Surveyors in Sydney, Australia.

1963 – 1971: Quantity Surveyor with Chartered Surveying practices in the London Area.
