WORK EXPERIENCE:
I have worked as a civil / structural engineering technician for almost 20 years. During my career I have gained a wide variety of experience on large civil and structural engineering projects located both in the UK and overseas.
I have worked on projects for clients such as Rolls Royce Power Engineering, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Network Rail and various government agencies, during this time I have developed an appreciation for the demands and requirements that working in certain locations can place on a project. I have worked on projects in security sensitive locations such as prisons and ministry of defence sites, environmentally sensitive locations such as hurricane and earthquake areas and safety sensitive locations such as railways and large industrial sites. I now draw on this experience to develop schemes, which are safe and economic.

INDIVIDUAL SKILLS:
Production of detailed drawings relating to civil and structural engineering projects taking in all areas of the construction process on both renovation and new build projects. The majority of my experience has been gained in the industrial infrastructure field. I have extensive knowledge in the following areas:
* Building and plant Foundations,
* Reinforced concrete detailing,
* Structural steelwork detailing,
* Building layouts.
* Scheme development layouts,
* Railway infrastructure.

Site surveying of new and existing structures using instruments, sketches and photographic methods to gather relevant information in order to develop schemes.

Appreciation of site safety issues in both the construction and railway environments.

Appreciation of the construction process and the various issues that can arise on a project, such as build ability, cost effectiveness and safety considerations. I regularly draw upon my experience in order to provide solutions to construction problems which can arise during the design and construction process.

I spent almost a year on site as assistant site engineer reporting to the contract manager. I provided setting out support and day to day management of site operatives.

I pride myself on being able to work with a wide variety of people from all backgrounds, I work very well in a team and I am prepared to help my colleagues fulfil any task we are set.

As part of my role as senior technician / CAD manager i am regularly called upon to give training and guidance to junior draughtsman and engineers on both the use of software and construction details.

Recently I have been working in a supervisory role giving guidance to the office CAD team on drawing presentation, as well as initiating a system of procedures to be followed to ensure the quality of work leaving the office meets and our client's expectations.

I have also Developed ways of improving the productivity of the design process within the office. Working with engineers to provide the best solution for our clients needs
