Mechanical Engineer (2007 – Present)
Focus on thermal heavy oil plant (SAGD, CSS) heat exchanger design in the Alberta oil sands, specifically: shell and tube exchangers, spiral exchangers, plate and frame exchangers, air coolers, hairpin exchangers, double pipe exchangers in both oil and water treatment areas
Also design pressure vessels and confirm pump designs
Originate design and requisition of mechanical equipment, including:
Review of initial data sheets and process flow diagrams
Create heat exchanger design in HTRI
Generate and revise data sheets, material requisitions, and material/equipment specifications
Serve as liaison to vendors during bid, proposal and cost estimation process
Review and approve drawings, calculations, and other ancillary documents to ensure that all requirements, specifications, and codes are fully satisfied with an eye to reduced capital cost and engineering hours
