Manager, Engineering
* Responsible for building the engineering team in the new Vancouver office and managing the multi-discipline engineering activities. Duties include development of the growth strategy for the engineering department, defining roles and responsibilities, hiring and mentoring key discipline engineers, implementation of corporate systems and procedures, establishing department policies and guidelines, and office space planning.

* Responsible for preparing engineering content in proposals as well as overall budget, schedule, scope of work, selection of key team members, etc. Also reviewed proposals with clients and successfully negotiated final agreement.
Study Manager
* Detour Lake Gold Mine: Feasibility study and cost estimate (to be NI 43-101 compliant) for the infrastructure scope to support re-development of a gold mine in Ontario with a design capacity of 60,000 tpd. Engineering Manager
* Shell Albian Oilsands Project – Expansion 1 Froth Treatment Plant. $1 billion project to design and construct a grassroots oil treatment facility near Ft. McMurray, Alberta. Joined project at 60% completion stage to address project performance issues. Duties included direct supervision of multi-discipline team of up to 250 engineers, technologists and designers. Responsible for performance of the team with respect to quality and schedule. Assisted in the development of the engineering schedule that incorporated difficult client requests. Lead team to deliver engineering documents in accordance with client's requirements, within the difficult schedule constraints. Provided leadership, management and mentorship to team members.
Lead Project Engineer
* Nexen Long Lake South – Phase 1 – SAGD Project. $2 billion project to design and construct a grassroots SAGD heavy oil processing facility, wellsites and gathering pipelines for a new 70,000 BPD operation in N.E. Alberta. Duties as Lead Project Engineer for the Central Processing Facility included interfacing with the client's project team, overall responsibility for the technical design of the plant, adherence to client's requirements and specifications, providing leadership and management to team of project engineers, and execution of the approved scope of work within defined budget and schedule.
2004 - 2006 PETRO-CANADA, Calgary & Edmonton, Alberta
Project Manager / Senior Project Engineer
* Edmonton Refinery Conversion Project. $1.2B project to convert refinery from conventional oil feedstock to sour bitumen based material. Scope included new Sour Crude & Vacuum Unit, new Sulphur Block, revamps to Delayed Coker, Unionfining and Bulk Desulphurization Units as well as Utilities and Offsites. Performed project management and project engineering duties during DBM phase including scope definition, cost and schedule management, integration and communications management, risk management, facilitation of design reviews by owner, and change management. Ensured consistent application of Petro-Canada's project delivery model guidelines.

* Polyethylene Plant #2. $700M grassroots construction of world's first full-scale Advanced SCLAIR Technology polyethylene plant at integrated petrochemical complex. Was brought onto project by Nova management at 50% completion stage to address project management issues. Duties included client representation, change management, liaison with engineering and construction contractors, overseeing construction work teams, monitoring contractors' cost and schedule control efforts, assisting in the development of optimized construction work methods, conducting multi-discipline walkdowns of systems prior to client acceptance of turnovers, generating punch lists.
* Offsites facilities for Joffre 2000 Projects. $430M project included new modular piperacks, co-product storage facilities, railcar loading rack, blast resistant control building and deluge building, and rail yards. Was brought onto project by Nova management at 50% completion stage to address project management issues. Duties included client representation, change management, liaison with engineering and construction contractors, facilitating client review of engineering designs and constructability, monitoring and expediting work at the engineering contractor's home office, coordinating multi-discipline reviews of PDS models and ensuring implementation of recommendations, client sign-off of P&IDs.
1997 – 1998 GULF CANADA RESOURCES LIMITED, Calgary, Alberta
Project Manager
* Steen Gas Plant and Gathering System – northern Alberta. $35M project included grassroots 30 MMSCFD sour gas processing plant with sweetening, refrigeration, condensate stabilization, sales gas compression, acid gas compression and injection, and 45 miles of 12" and smaller pipelines in environmentally sensitive area with permafrost. Duties included project management of engineering and procurement phases. Had signing authority limit of $100k.
* House Creek Battery Upgrade and Pipeline Looping – northern Alberta. Project included fabrication and installation of free water knockout, decommissioning of two treaters, and 4 miles of 6" oil pipeline. Duties included project management. Had signing authority limit of $100k.
* Project coordination from concept to start up on numerous other projects including compression, and oil and gas pipelines. Projects completed in northern Alberta with very challenging schedule, cost and logistical constraints.
1994 – 1997 TITAN PROJECTS LTD., Calgary, Alberta

* Syncrude Canada Ltd. - Aurora Mine Pilot Project, Fort McMurray, Alberta. $5M field pilot project for testing new oilsands bitumen extraction technology. Facilities included 100 tonne/hr oilsands material handling system, cyclofeeder, slurry pumps, 4" pipeline and separation vessels. Duties included project and piping engineering.
* Syncrude Canada Ltd. – Bitumen Froth Flow Pilot Project, Fort McMurray, Alberta. Pilot facilities for testing flow characteristics of bitumen froth generated by Syncrude's new froth extraction technology. Facilities included a new temporary 24-inch pipeline and 10,000 USGPM diesel-driven pumping facilities within existing operating plant. Duties included project and piping engineering.
* Suncor Inc., Oilsands Group, Fort McMurray, Alberta. Pond #1 Fine Tailings Transfer Project. Project included construction and operation of diesel-powered dredge with cutter head, several booster pumps, and floating HDPE pipeline for oilsands fine tailings transfer. Duties included process, mechanical and pipeline engineering.
* Asamera Oil (Indonesia) Ltd. – North Sumatra Gas Project, Indonesia. Process study for development of gas reserves in North Sumatra including three gas gathering systems and a sour gas plant. Duties included process engineering.
* Gulf Canada Resources Limited – Westerose Battery Compression Addition, central Alberta. Project included addition of 5000 HP centrifugal compressor at existing oil battery. Duties included process and project engineering.
* Westcoast Energy Inc. – Aitken Creek Gas Plant, northern British Columbia. Grassroots 300 MMSCFD sour gas plant. Duties included process engineering.

Duties included on-site project and mechanical engineering, and tank inspections.
* Mapco Petroleum, Inc. – Amine Unit and Sulphur Plant Debottlenecking, Memphis Refinery, Memphis, Tennessee. Duties included process engineering and completion of study report.
* SsangYong Oil Refining Company Ltd. – 50 t/d Modular Claus Sulfur Recovery Unit, Resulf Tail Gas Treating Unit, Onsan, Korea. Duties included piping and pipe stress engineering.
* Yukong Oil Company – Modular Amine Unit, Sulfur Plant and Resulf Tail Gas Treating Unit, Ulsan, Korea. Duties included piping and pipe stress engineering.
